Topic: Gibson Acquires Stanton - The future of DJing?

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I went to the music store earlier to buy my favorite stylus only to find out that its discontinued (Stanton 500 V3). I was told that Stanton has confirmed they will be making a replacement for it, but due to Gibson acquiring Stanton the date is unknown...

A while back i mentioned that Stanton had been relatively quiet compared to other brands in the aggressiveness & development of controllers.
This makes me wonder, I find it hard to believe the brand Stanton is going to disappear, and im curious to see what they come up with in terms new dj gear now that they are part of Gibson.

Panasonic has also been quiet after discontinuing the Technics 1200... could they be retooling and getting ready to drop something big? Is it possible Numark saw this coming and are being aggressive in order to make and impression and stay ahead of the curve?

What do you guys think might happen, i doubt these two companies will let the brand names die out...

stanton have been killing themselves with cheap chinese crap ever since seperating from the manufacturer of vestax and the old numark stuff. And they are trying too hard to make cheap, rubish quality gear interesting... making a controller entirely by touchpads and another with an onboard cpu... And there turntables aside from the st150 make me want to throw up when I see their horrible space age design.

IMO it's not that hard to make a good controller, quality construction and parts are essential, next most important thing is features, this is easy with controllers as all it takes is another button/knob/slider/encoder/led to be added. next is design Im a guy so I prefer not to sacrifice function over form, but I think vestas got it right with the vci 400, but it should maybe be a little bigger so you can really move around it easily.

I think the comment should have been "I hope gibson can recussitate the dying stanton brand"

The future of DJing, is right here, with VirtulDJ...

not sure Stanton is out of place, the STR8 150 is a great turntable in my opinion, probably rivals the 1200 more than the TTX... but i think they are outdated, this is why im thinking they might comeback strong or simply fold the cards permanently... they cant have decent revenues with the stuff they are putting out right now...

rebranding would be a waste of time and money, i think these guys will sit down and plan a good strategy to come back with something decent and give Numark a run for their money, specially with controllers, its the way the industry is going and its a necessary step in order for them to remain relevant in the industry.

it's a good TT but it's an OEM one . Not Stanton Turntable , they only put their logo on it .

Great decks

Hi,

I'm actually a product manager for Stanton, so I thought I would chime in.

1.Our controllers are actually very high quality, and have direct integration with Virtual DJ. The SCS.1 and SCS.3 are plug and play with Virtual DJ 7, and has stupidly high resolution. Check out some of the Videos from the NAMM show!

2.The Gibson acquisition has been a huge positive. Gibson is very supportive of the Stanton brand, and have really made us feel welcome. We aren't going anywhere.

If you have any questions, just ask.

Cheers,

Drew (AKA ProfessorBX)

Aside from the 150 turntables and the cartridges i haven't seen anything from Stanton that wows me.
Stanton should take everything they have learned from SC series, scrap it, and put out something functional for the professional DJing industry.
Look at the comments in the forums, what people like from other brands and what they hate, and put all of that into something new.

never really understood why the SCS 4DJ was released, the software cant handle big music libraries...

  • I would love the feel of penny & giles faders in a controller,
  • large motorised 14bit pitch fader from the scs1d,
  • 12x the encoders and screens from the scs1d, for effects and loops
  • 4x red led encoders for filters
  • a circle lcd screen in the middle of a static jog or a led ring around the outside,
  • blue backlit buttons
  • two grids of 8 buttons somewhere. using red and light blue leds, giving light blue, purple and red colors to choose from
  • 2x the touchpads from the scs3d system but it should register both a note on/off and a cc value depending on where it is touched,
  • boring square grey/black metal case
