you wimps
yesterday my dog passed out in the heat......
i/she got lucky , dodged a bullet and she was fine afterwards
i took her for her usual last minute potty walk before leaving to work the club and
as we headed down the stretch she just dropped like a rock , really no warning signs of distress
i picked her up ( she's 95 lbs) set her on her feet , she was wobbly for a minute, but she was
responsive and walking , so i hurried her best i could back to the air conditioning , and put
ice in her water , she seemed to be out of distress , so i decided to see if she would eat
i gave her a soup bone and she did eat it, although she didn't tear into it with the usual gusto
i thought she was outta the woods and i had to leave for work, so i called a couple friends
who have a key for emergencies like this, and they both looked in on her while i was at work....
today you can't tell anything happened
back in '07 or '08 i was entertaining the kids at my ex's elementary school where she taught
we were in the gymnasium and it was hot as blue blazes
i don't remember it but i passed out , i just remember waking up with a cold towel on my neck
now i'm not so cocky about dealing with the heat , even though i grew up in Fla.

we take it a bit more seriously down here.
heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and dehydration are things we have to deal with every summer - toss in the alcohol and daily temps that average in the 100+ degree range during the hot part of the summer, and we average 4-5 people passing out in the building every year.
high-energy dancing, lack of hydration, alcohol consumption, and hot summers = ambulances in your parking lot. and that ain't really good for your clubs image!
make sure your staff knows what to look for! passed out drunk and passed out from heat or dehydration look the same, but BOTH can be really bad.
take care of your customers and they will take care of you... and won't sue!

you really know how to cheer up a guy , Keith....
i feel sorry for the woman , i'd be distraught too .......
anywhoo my Poohbear (yellow lab) fares very well in the cold and wet
because of her fur and considerable undercoat , but those are disadvantages
in the heat...... anyway i trimmed her back a bit yesterday and today i'm giving her
a near mohawk
i got curious to look at the weather channel's "petcast" and i filled out the info and it
declared the comfort index today for a large geriatric dog with a heavy coat was ......none
tonight when it gets 12 degrees cooler it's one paw out of 5
we don't seem to be out of the woods with this heat until about Sunday
don't cool off with alcoholic drinks
alcohol makes you hotter when it's hot and colder when it's cold
if you are outside for a mobile event take a fan and get an umbrella and/or ice water
if your host invites you to jump in the pool , go ahead .....
just , remember to set down the mic first .....
