I hate to sound redundant if this question has been asked several times already but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me about the sound quality for the tracks downloaded off NetSearch for VDJ?

So far, on my home setup they sound a bit thin but I'm only running the 30 second samples and not the full subscription of GrooveShark.
If I were to get the full subscription does anyone know what bit rate the download MP3s are encoded in?
I dont notice much of a difference between low quality and high quality audio files on my home setup but I'm cursed with hearing just the smallest lack of quality when playing digital tracks on a club system so I keep all my mp3s above 300KBPS.

Also, does anyone know if there is a way to play these tracks outside of VDJ.
I would like to download a few of them and put them on my iPOD or record a mix and listen to these tracks on my iPOD.

It ranges from low to high quality. You will have to pick and choose. For what I use it for, it's OK. Most of these tracks will only be played once, until I can get the track. If the track is that great, I will get a high quality version later. I do not have to have every song in the universe, it's just good to know I can. You can not copy the tracks, but you can record them.

I decided to sign up anyway.
Ill probably use this for requests when ive got to reach beyond my own music catalog. I will probably be the only one who notices the differences in sound quality.

True, unless I'm in the club. Then I will come up and say "Yo, your music sounds like dodo". However, if it was me, I would shove my headphone down his throat, and say, "can you hear me now". If you download to cache, you can check the bit rate, and decide if you want to go that low.

I don't think you can record tracks from GrooveShark either........unless something has changed??

That would suck. You are using VDJ to record your set, and every Grooveshark song you play... there is a silent gap in the playback?

But the service is only there as a last resort emergency solution, not to allow you to DJ without buying music.

If somebody asks for a song you don't have............tell them you don't have it. When you're back at home the next day, buy the song.
