Hi!
I want to ask people have tried og own a Stanton SCS 4DJ if the screen feels big enough? That is my biggest concern when considering if this is the controller for me :)
Kind regards

the screen is very good and has a good contrast

the screen doesn't work with software only the built in system, so if your using vdj the screen has no purpose.

Thanks for the posts! I was of course thinking of when i use the built in interface.. I was just worried about it would be hard to read the text on the screen at the distance from your mixer

It's a shame it can't be programmed to display VDJ information like the HC-4500 does. That's really excellent!

You are partially correct on this ...
The screen provides the Text for the Buttons that run along the sides of it and across the bottom. There are files that are supplied as part of the mapper download that are to be used to update the display to the proper text labels.
So the display does not have "no purpose" with VirtualDJ -- it actually has a specific purpose. Please know the equipment before you comment on what it can not do or doesn't have a purpose with the software.

Fair enough Chris, but I think a sugar coated turd is still a turd, IMO anyone planning on using this device with VDJ will be disappointed about the screen and lack of soundcard, that said I have never had my eyes much less my hands on the device.
IMO These issues should have come up in stantons beta testing considering the prevalence of dj software within the consumer dj market, but they must not have considered it important or cost effective. This isn't saying that other gear from stanton like the SCS1D/M is bad, but this could be better integrated with software.

......but it's designed as a complete all-in-one standalone unit!
Stanton didn't have to give it controller abilities at all. The idea is that you don't need a computer.
Why on earth would anyone specifically buy an all-in-one unit and then want to use it as a controller instead?! :-/
I think it's a great idea. It's a shame there aren't more units like this.
All these expensive controllers that are completely useless without a computer, or only the mixer part works - what a waste!

The question was asked on a dj software forum not the manufactures or a general dj forum like djtt, djf, djworx or ddjt. I think It's reasonable to assume this is intended to be used to control software, and provide a response with that in mind.
I think the issues could be fixed if it had hardware with the ability to recieve and display midi text (not necessarily waveforms) and an onboard soundcard, but you have a point about it not being the intended purpose of the controller.

Yes it was asked here, but this is the "general discussion" area, not software or hardware support
:-P
Plus the poster stated that he was talking about the screen when used as a player....
