I've noticed that when I load different tracks on my decks, that for no reason some will load with the SKINS gain knob at zero and the gain reading at 0.0, same position as my controller, and then other songs will load with the SKIN gain knob all the way to the right (full gain) but the reading is still 0.0 .....so if I move my controller knob, I must first turn it to the same position as the knob on the skin before it reacts so then I essentially have no gain to work with...The skin loaded the knob maxed out, but the value at 0.0 ......I've tried to disengage/engage the Auto gain...no difference...All skins are the same.......I hope this makes sense to someone.....

I believe that it's actually VDJ matching the gain of the other track or zeroing it out according to VDJ. Check the wiki for a better explanation.

Thanks Syn for pointing me in the right direction. I assumed that I had some kind of a malfunction...I found the following in the wiki:
Gain:
The amount of gain will change from one song to another, depending on how much VirtualDJ determined was needed when analysing the song.
In most cases, the gain determined by VirtualDJ will normally be correct and you should not need to make any manual adjustments.
When loading a song for the first time, make sure that you do not start playing it until it has loaded in full, otherwise the gain may be too high/low and will then suddenly 'jump' to the correct automatically determined level once song loading completes and VirtualDJ has been able to detect the correct value.
** I am wondering though, If on all pre-scanned tracks the gain is already known to VDJ, what is the point in the "auto-remember" gain setting if it is already known?......What is the recommendation for settings on the gain option? Remember, Auto remember or disabled?.....

Auto->It brings all loaded files to 0 db level
AUto+Remember->It uses the gain value of your latest adjustment (using the Gain slider of skin or controller). If doesnt exist (never changed) it brings the song to 0 db.
Disabled->It doesnt make any chnage on gain. It uses the original level of the song, and requires manual adjustment.
It is advised to have the AutoGain to AUTO and make small adjustments with the gain slider if needed.
