Please bear in mind that if you externally adjust the gain of a song that has already been previously analysed by VirtualDJ using a tool such as MP3gain, you will need to re-scan the song again in VirtualDJ to take the new adjustment into account, otherwise the adjustment as previously determined by VirtualDJ will no-longer be correct and the song will either be quieter or louder than it should be.

Thank you - I never thought of that

I'm sure that has happened to me a couple of times :)

By "good source" Beat, are you talking 320kbs and up?....Is that the "standard?"......Do the VU Meters represent the volume going out or the gain levels of the deck?.....thanks.....

Don't forget, just cause it says it's 320 it could have come from a crap source. You can bump anything up to 320 even a track that was 92 can be made so it says it's 320.

When I say a good source I mean a pool you can trust, a pool that takes care when encoding. Be it audio or video, they try to bring you the best quality they can, over and over again. I don't give up my sources, sure it seems silly in this day and age but I pride myself on having the newest best quality tracks and I have seem to have found them.

As far as your meters go, that's the sound going out. I usually start out with my gains zeroed out. Then I push my volume slider all the way up. I'll then turn my master up until I'm bumping the yellow and tell the sound guy the rest is his. I always make them push there system up cause they can get more then my mixer. Now when I start mixing I'll match the VU meters or have the in coming track slightly lower. If I need to adjust the gain on a track I'll do it, but for the most part VDJ does do a pretty good job in my opinion. Also remember I'm using an external mixer. One day I'll actually sit down and see how on point the on screen meters are......
