Topic: How do I get video smoother?

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I ran video and karaoke last night with minimal problems. No problem with karaoke at all.

I had slight issues with video. Some of my videos would skip and they were not fluid. Backspins and scratches were bad looking.

How can I fix this?

I have a POWERFUL macbook pro.
2.5Ghz quad core i7 with 16gb memory.

VDJ ran very good last night with this machine. I used my NS6. Scratching was not perfect but it was not very horrible. I would like to tighten the scratch up but i NEED video to run smooth.

A little help please?

What video card does your machine have?

Full specs...

MacBook Pro 2.5GHz Quad-core Intel i7

Originally released October 2011
15.4-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit Hi-Res antiglare widescreen display, 1680-by-1050 resolution

4GB (2 x 2GB) of 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM
750GB Serial ATA @ 5400 rpm
8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Intel HD Graphics 3000 and AMD Radeon HD 6770M

Let me clarify an earlier statement.

"I had slight issues with video. Some of my videos would skip and they were not fluid. Backspins and scratches were bad looking."

Video would skip but audio was fine. No skip in audio, just video.

Backspins, weather fast, slow or very slow were not just bad but VERY bad on video. Audio was fine.

Scratching was also very bad on video. Audio was fine.

I just read a post about this, not sure if this will fix your situation but may be worth a shot. Go to sys pref, energy saver, un-click automatic graphics switching.
I run Win 7 on my Mac Book Pro and noticed a slight video lag. Used it last night since I un-clicked automatic graphics switching and it seemed smoother.

I do not have auto graphics switching enabled. I unchecked that the day I purchased the macbook.

I still need help as my videos still don't respond very well to platter movement and still skip from time to time.

I don't know squat about Macs, so I just ask good questions. You are using the AMD card, right? It's running DX11, so do you have it optimized for DX9? All the latest drivers? Which OS are you using? Have you been to the MAC forum?

Great questions... As far as the video card, I am using the AMD card. As far as DX11 and/or DX9, I have NO IDEA. Never heard of them nor do I know what they are or what they do.

As far as the mac forum...
I posted here first so i'm kinda stuck here. If I ask the same question in the mac forum...... It will get LOCKED for double posting.

No it won't. It's a legitimate issue, and most Mods will allow it to continue. At some point it may be moved. You can keep it here and I'm sure you will get some help. I have to go to work, but will come back when I get there.

Don't ask me to elaborate, but you have a DX11 card, and VDJ uses DX9. I don't know if the drivers for this card include DX9, but it seems as though I remember someone saying you had to install DX9 drivers. I could be wrong, that's why I'm posting here, so I can be corrected by someone who is smarter.

I believe that is for the windows os only, unless he's running bootcamp....May not apply to apple os...

You see, I forgot already that he was running a MAC.

No help for me yet???

Let me clarify further...

While running music videos, I had videos skipping and looking bad while scratching and backspins.

Karaoke looked good. I did not see any skipping with karaoke but then again, there is no need to scratch karaoke or do backspins.

I really need some help with this.

I have posted in mac forum as well and got no response.

Not sure what to say man. I have run video for a couple years. Smoothness all comes down to the video card... That is why I run a desktop, it is a PAIN but performs flawless. Plus you can run almost any video card you want.

That being said, what format are the karaoke videos? Are they saved in zip folders? Did you rip them? What tool did you use?

Not sure if you can use it, but I have used the Divix codecs to eliminate jerky video when I record my set. Have you tried them?

I don't do karaoke but those may help the discussion.

What format videos are you using and have you tried other formats to see if there is a relation to your issue as far as video type is concern..?
