Ok, I think these would be all the performance specs that one would ask my new laptop has.
I copied all the settings from my old laptop to the new one. For some reason I have a huge delay when I hit play on my NS6 and when the software picks it up. Delay is almost a 1.5 beats off when mixing. Once in a while the song playing on the speakers will do a quick pause or skip when I am searching or loading another track.
Is there a common setting I should be using that I don't know about? Or are the settings different on every laptop? I only do music, no video.
Any help or insight would be great.

Specs sound good and not doing video rules out allot of problems. Assuming the Numark drivers are up to date, you may want to set latency to auto and try adjusting the jog settings to the left ( 80% +/- ).
Also, there is a procedure to firing up the 6 so the jogs calibrate. Touching them in several spots and rotating a bit then hit apply works for me.
Other than that, I assume nothing is running while VDJ is open?

ok,
So I'm still getting a delay on my NS6 and the software. I updated everything to the newest driver.
Here's my Settings under sound setup.
Inputs: NONE
Outputs: Headphones > Mater Chanel 1&2 Headphones: 3&4
Sound Card: ASIO Driver> NS6 USB Audio Device
Ulta-Latency ASIO is clicked ON.
ASIO CONFIG > 512 Samples - 13.2ms/36.8ms
No clue why I'm having these issue with delay.. never happened before.

after 1.5 hours on the phone and computer our conclusion is that the ns6 is having issues with the usb 3.0 connections.

USB 3.0 has been a standard for years, but there seems to be common problems with USB audio specifically. No one's willing to admit responsibility. The audio manufacturers blame the USB 3.0 drivers supplied with the laptop. The laptop manufacturers blame the USB audio drivers for not being written to spec.
I have similar problems with Pioneer's CDJ400's. They work fin when plugged into USB 2.0, but refuse to work when plugged into the USB 3.0 port. Pioneer won't accept responsibility for this (yet).
Here's a possible (short term) solution. Get a cheap USB 2.0 hub and plug that into the USB 3.0 port. Theoretically, this should downgrade the entire chain of devices to USB 2.0, and maybe that will be enough to get the NS6 working.
Let me know if that works for you.

Unfortunately this theory is not working. It still uses the same "driver" for the 3.0 USBs. So, no goal here.

Yeah, the usb hub doesn't work. . That's how I had everything plugged in the first place. HD and NS6 in hub, Hub to computer. . . SO , SOOO disappointing. I thought spending the "big bucks" on a computer would be worth it. Now i have a $915 (USD) net surfing laptop.
Can't return it because I had it custom built by Toshiba. Another kick in the balls.

I would try a few things. First. Change the headphone to none and change the output to the
laptop speakers. Are you still having an issue. If not I'd look at something with the asio driver If you still are having issues try using the mouse to start playing a song. See if that works properly. . My "guess" is a latency issue somewhere. Have you tried running dpc latency utility. It helped me find an issue where my video driver was causing huge latency spikes. I updated the driver no more issues. I'm sure there are quite a few people running the ns6 on USB 3. I'm not sure the USB 3 is to blame. Does your new laptop have an express port? You could get a USB 2 adapter to plug in and try. Lastly. Something really easy. Have you tried a new USB cable to the ns6?..

I had contacted VDJ support... let them take over my computer... Bob spent a good hour trying to figure things out. . . Then said, it was the USB 3.0. He said they been having issues with the 3.0 for a while now.
I tried to contact Numark about the issue to see if they had a beta driver... but since 50% of India is out of power, no one picked up the phone. Message said.. bla bla power loss... leave a message. .
There's no delay when the ns6 isn't hooked into the computer. the issues come with the connection from the ns6 to the computer.

Ok,
I used the dpc latency tool. It never left the green area on the scan.... I even tried to crash it... hitting a bunch of buttons...
So, I DID. get it to work for a bit.
I unplugged the HD from the port. Plugged it directly into the computer. Then plugged the ns6 into the computer... opened the program and it works fine.
BUT. If i plug the ns6 in first, then the HD, it does not work right.
My GUESS here, is I should get a usb 3.0 port?

any advice on what 3.0 usb hub to get?
Also, would it be beneficial to replace all my cables to 3.0? and my HD?

Hi Jeremy,
I read a thread on German Forum where someone had a similar problem.
What solved his problem is this:
He uninstalled the driver for USB 3.0 chipset and restarted the laptop.
WIN 7 then installed a common USB 2.0 driver and everything worked fine.
Hope this helps
Stephan

Wow what a shame, going backwards, but remember guys this is not the fault of VDJ this is an ISSUE with Technology Creeping fwd and the drivers not being 100% backwards compatible, we definitely need a fix for this Try using a badass new notebook with 3 different usb devices, you would be screwed
If anyone has any Idea or a universal usb3.0 driver that is backwards compatible please let us know there has to be a way to prevent this Issue for further User.
Sincerely DJ JAMM

Wow...
Just bought two new machines that have 3.0 and I stumble across this thread! Now I'm apprehensive about popping the seal on the boxes! My Love/Hate relationship with technology continues! There was something to be said about Technics 1200's, RCA into analog mixer, END OF STORY! LOL.
I do read German, read the German posting: The guy uninstalled the driver for the USB3.0 and upon reboot the PC basically treats the USB ports as 2.0. According to him everything works perfectly. Of course, the drawback is that you're effectively downgrading your ports which in turn stinks when backing up your brand new 3.0 externals.
I will need to ask my computer geek friend, maybe there's a way to do a configuration boot file that starts up as 3.0 or 2.0 depending upon the intended use. I'll report back as soon as I know.
I certainly dread having my HC4500 or DNS1200 suddenly having issues! :(

Ok guys... since I stopped using the 2.0 USB Port everything works fine now...
I now have 3 cables to the laptop instead of two.
1. Power
2. USB for Hard Drive
3. USB For NS6
Before I had the HD and NS6 into the hub.. out of the hub to my computer.
Been working fine for 4 events and before hand I had it going for 48 hours straight.
Now, i'm considering buying a USB 3.0 HUB and new USB 3.0 Hard Drive and see what happens.

Because I only want one usb to the laptop for a cleaner look.

Any updates on the hub, I want to do the same thing, my new laptop also have 4 x USB3.0 ports and I have all my music on a WD MyBook Essentials USB3.0 external drive and my Gemini CNTRL-7 is connected to another USB3.0 connector. Then I'm using the HDMI output as well - just too many cables... I too want to reduce the number of cables running to the notebook.
Have you bought a hub yet? Brand and model?
