I assume you press PLAY before the song is fully loaded ?
This can happen if the song is not previously played or scanned.
Please read here.. http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Pre-Analysing%20Your%20Music%20Collection.html
Another case is, that you have disabled the Auto Gain in Config->Options.
Select Auto or Auto+Remember

It appears your Sound Setup is wrong, and both HEadphones and Master are outputted to the same audio chanel.
What is the Sound setup you have in Config ?
Where are your headphones and speakers/amp connected to ?

dj dad, you were spot on, now im not sure why this has happened, but my audio setup has been for some time
master (mixtrack pro output 1/2)
phones (mixtrack pro output 5/6)
now for some reason, unknown to me, ive changed the settings to
master (mixtrack pro output 1/2)
phones (mixtrack pro output 3/4)
and everything works again, however, there seems for some reason, that the channel numbers for the MTP are not fixed to just one set of outputs. now i could be missing something here, but im still a little puzzled as to why this has happened in the first place... unless of course one of my kids has been messing around with my equipment..

Cant tell if the Config changed by itself, or anyone else messed with that, but you can use this Tool prior launching VirtualDJ. It will use the saved Profile and make sure it will load the correct one. You may even save various Configs and choose from them.
