i have try setting up the software to tv and surround sound system. i have sound through me laptop for movies and songs but when i run virtual dj i only get sound through my laptop. i cant figure this one out

I don't know which version you have, but you should be able to have the master output, coming out of your headphone jack. In config/sound setup/input none/output single/sound card simple.

Use HDMI to connect your laptop with TV (digital one, I hope). Enable HDMI sound to TV in the setup of your laptop's sound card (playback devices). Connect your sound system (speakers) to TV. You're done.
