Easily solved problem put a zone mixer between the output of your NS6 and the speakers

Sintar, you've only got yourself to blame for your situation! :-)

You're using PA speakers at home. Your decision.

You're using a controller/mixer that has "post-master" VU meters. Your choice.

There are several solutions.

One - buy some small powered monitors, or some computer speakers.

Two - insert something between the Numark output and the speakers that will allow you to drop the volume. This could be as simple as a cheap passive mixer, or a DJ effects unit - anything that has a way of controlling the level.

ART SplitMix 4. Cheap, cheerful, problem solved.

I appreciate the ideas. I gotta say though that of course I have myself to blame, of course PA speakers are not designed for home use. The fact is thst im using them for a reason that has to do with a combination of rare use (at home) and neatness. The room itself if quite big (8x7m) and these speakers sound fine for the few times a year i actually get in there to have a mix at home since breeding (this is not in my living room, I have a standard albeit powerful hifi setup there). I know ive said it before but it seems to be ignored by some here, 'all I wanted to know originally was whether the new headroom feature would act as a post master volume control, it does not'. The rest I can live with. I have already written that I used to have another mixer sitting innetween the ns6 and the powered speakers and that I sold it because it wasn't important enough to me to keep it, so obviously I'm not too stressed about it. I may consider getting a really small cheap mixer or something at some stage, especially if I start to get in there more now my kids are growing up, but at the moment it's not really worth it.

Edit

That Nano Patch thing looks pretty good, I think I'd rather something like that then another mixer. Didn't quite seem worth running another electrical device over it but this...

It's basically just a pot in a posh box!

Found one new on eBay for under $50.
