What are the advantages/benefits to learning to Video DJ? I'm assuming I will get more gigs? Does it allow you to charge more? What do you guys think? Is it going to be a requirement in the future? Would it be wise to invest time in learning to mix videos?

video = icing on the cake. make sure the cake tastes damn good then make it look good too. VDJ is the best in the world to help you do this, not do it all for you, and done right you can serve up some really good eye candy for that extra something special to add to marketability. practice, practice, practice and make it look really good. (see DJ Larry D on youtube - you'll get the idea)
charging extra for it - not sure i would go overboard on that, but there is overhead involved so just be careful on pricing.

I started doing video DJing 5 years ago with VirtualDJ. At the 2 residencies I worked at back then I managed to raise my prices by 15%. Although, I sold it to them by running their facebook, twitter and myspace pages advertising daily as part of the extra price. ;-) I am still working at one of those residencies with the same price. I have had a subscription with Promo Only for 5 years, my video collection has built up to over 5,300. In that 5 years I have been playing 100% videos at all my gigs. Occasionally I play an mp3, and in that case I have some moving graphics automatically display on the screens, so the screens are never empty.
I must say that it's unlikely that it would bring in extra bookings because of video, I work in a nightclub residency so I don't really know about the mobile market. I look on it as extra added entertainment (or icing on the cake). Every bar and nightclub in my area have plasma screens and/or projector screens and usually have the music channels playing videos silently and the DJ playing something completely different. To me it just looks stupid, having the matching video playing gives that 'something extra' plus if there's a new song around with a dance attached to it then you can point the customers to the video to learn the dance (as in the current Psy - Gangnam Style).
I recently spoke to a guy that works in a competitors venue. When I spoke to him about video DJing he said "It never really took off did it?". I said to him "What were you expecting? It's not going to pull massive crowds in to a venue, it's more an added entertainment thing". But, it makes me stand out among my fellow DJs and gives me that little bit edge over them. My customers are so used to it that it just feels normal to them. I have noticed when we get strangers in they seemed to be transfixed watching the video screens. :-)
As for learning to video DJ, for me it's no different to norrnal DJing. I have my videos transitioning automatically when I beatmix or cut to another video, which means I can concentrate on the music.
VirtualDJ is the best in the world at this!!!
Coupla of samples on my website if you want to check them out;
