Topic: Cant get video to start recording

after the update 7.03 i have not been alb to record video, i push record it says waiting to start recording but never starts, i have tryed to load new codecs, messing with the settings and no luck its been 2 months trying to fix this and nothing i do works. I have been useing this software for years now. this is first time i cant record video. Any ideas? Why wont it start?

i have all ready tryed to install new codecs and still get the waiting to record this only happen after the update, any other ideas?

Those are external records, they don't work with VDJ.

the problem is when u push start to record it then says waiting to start . it will not start to record anything. ive even tryed many differnt setting and types of video it wont start .

Right so I gave you 2 options to totally bypass recording with VDJ.........

true i can record useing that program but that donst fix virtual dj waiting to start Problem .

well I think the point of the other programs are so you dont need to use teh VDJ record feature. I'm interested to know how you made out and what you did - if you resolved the issue.

but help me understadn something - I can or should be able to record using VDJ alone as long as I DONT have an ext monitor hooked up?

Right you should be able too, but whats the point?? That does you no good if you wanted to record your set while playing out in the club.....I suppose if your a bedroom dj it doesnt really matter then.....

so instead of finding a solution that should be related to the VDJ software we should spend $37 for fraps or $39 for bandicam?

pretty sure i'd rather fix issue first.

Well that depends on if you wanna wait around?? I for one have better thing s to do such as record my sets from an external monitor. This has been on going since I dont know when so I thought Id post a few suggestions which I know for a fact that they work. I should also mention if your on a Mac you could also use ScreenFlow, sorry I didnt run them by you first...........

after rolling back VDJ TO 7.3 I downloaded k-lite mega codec pack from cnet.com and noticed it was still giving the waiting to start message. I unticked the autostart box, chose the divx codec and hit record then hit play and it started recording. I then re-installed 7.4 and left the autostart box checked and loaded a vid and it started recording as soon as I hit play.

hope this helps. any questions just ask.

Still not recording after trial version of fraps. I am hooked up to an external monitor tho - is that the problem?

uninstalling and reinstalling - this is BS. Will someone who has this working please just post a step by step instruction list!!!

Nope it works perfect on my setup using an external monitor, must be your settings.

should work with version 7 and upwards. unfortunately the link to the ffd show download on the wiki is broken but its readily available online if you just search for it. the codec for ffdshow is also available in the k-lite mega codec pack on cnet.com

don't get too frustrated - it took me awhile to figure it out at first and that was on my old computer. patience and trouble shooting pays off.
