I just got a new laptop I'm setting up. I'm trying to import the database from an XP laptop to the Windows 8 without any luck. All my music is on an external hard drive. I copied the VDJ folder from my XP machine to the new one. When I open VDJ I can see the external in the left side panel as well as all my music, but bpm's , cue points, ect.... aren't there. When I go to config. then browser the only drive showing up is C drive. Any ideas on what step I might be missing? Thanks for any help.
PS. both are VDJ 7.3

Your BPMs, Cue settings, and song information is stored in a database XML file on each hard drive you have on your machine. Look in your external drive's file list for "VirtualDJLocalDatabase V6.xml. Sounds to me like it is missing.
Here is a typical database entry for a song. This is in the XML database file. There is one of these for each song you have in your collection.

No no no... the XML database file goes on the root directory of the hard drive. If your music drive is "D" then open in explorer and the file should appear there. D:\VirtualDJLocalDatabase V6.xml You'll get it.

PM'd you back.
Check your naming convention.
I'm using VISTA
The C:\Users\[User Name]\ Documents\Virtual DJ folder should have a database file named: VirtualDJ Database v6
Your F: drive's database should be named: VirtualDJ Local Database v6
Both have to be correct for VDJ to recognize them.
