I use the Denon 4500 midi controller and have always had this issue, I thought I posted about it before years ago but if so cant find the thread,
When I start moving a slider on the controller to change BPM there is no change, then it will jump up or down many BPM's then you can adjust it, but that lag at first moment in very annoying.
I do not know if I have a setting off or something is wrong with the set up, ( unless I am missing something the "basic" settings you suggest in the forum are correct )
Any help with this one?

This is soft-takeover, which is a standard feature on most MIDI controllers.
