You want a laptop which costs more than 1.000 for VDj?
I think this is wrong from the beginning...
What's your job my friend? If you just want to Dj, go for dell... not this one... a cheaper one!!!
700$ is enough for a good Dj laptop.
If you compose, mix, video editing or stuff like that, go for MAC!
With PC you have more hardware... but a computer is hard+SOFTware...
And Apple is AGES BETTER at SOFTWARE part ;)

OK Here's my final thought, Why in the heck would you go cheap on the brains of your whole operation!?!?! As DIGITAL DJ'S your laptop, tower, shuttle whatever you wanna use is the HEART behind it all! Go Big or go home, period!! I bet no one here has a problem dropping a 1000/2000 on gear yet you'll go cheap on your machine, get real already. Bigger, better, faster, stronger is the way to go. Doesn't matter if it's a Mac or PC.......spend the money and think Big, future proof yourself.....
I'm done here......
I'm done here......

I have a XPS L502x i7 2nd gen/8gb ram/750gb and 2GB Nvidia 540GT card. Spec wise blew away any Macbook Pro at that time, spent $1100. No Mac laptop even had an i7 offer at that time. Runs great, of course its heavy has a huge 150watt ac/adapter. Its all give and take. I personally dont think VDJ runs as good on a Mac, just the same as Serato runs better on a Mac. Its all down to chassis quality and OS. Since I have been working on computers, innovative stuff I have seen: Macs are very light and thin (afraid of them over heating), Thinkpads have a spill proof keyboard, it has liquid channels that route it away from the motherboard. Fujitsu's have an access door to clean out the processor heatsink when they get dirty, Sony makes an awesome i7 tablet touch screen thing that VDJ can run on. Read the reviews, see what you like the best. I am not a big fan of having to pay a $1000 mac tax cause all the other DJ's use it. I saw a friend of mine get some demo AMD system with onboard video for $280, ran better with VDJ than my high end Intel Duo Core with an Nvidia card that I paid $800 for.

I noticed no one mentioned a Mac Bootcamped.
This is what I use, best of both worlds. I DJ with the PC side and do everything else on the Mac side.
I also have the Mac version of VDJ installed as a backup.

Ha, you paid more then I paid for my Mac which has a I7, 8Gig ram and a tb hd!! And it's a 2011. Mac's are not that much more then high end PC's which you should be using anyways, after all your PROS.......so that argument is no longer void people.......

Used laptop for $1100, yesterdays technology at more than today's prices. I normally buy a new laptop or fairly new laptop every 3 years and phase out my DJ gear every so often. I learned that after years of repairing cars, computers, and electronics, stuff wears out no matter who blessed their logo on it or not. Drops, spills, dust, "tin wiskers" all add up over time.

i have a 3 year's old dell latitude I7 8gb and 1 year old macbook pro 13" I7 8gb and i work only with the dell.
after i tried both I can say that there is a big feeling that VDJ is better with Windows then with Osx.
I read in the forum thet a lot of people do a bootcamp for what ?? people buy Mac for the operating system and then put Windows ? why ??
This is the same intel processor that you will get in a pc same Hard Drive and the same Memories so Why pay a lot more ? for The good looks ?
the Lighted apple in front ?
If you buy a laptop that have a Specification that is good for audio work There is no reason to have any problem And it does not end in core I7 and 8gb or 16gb As people think there are many more things besides that.
Until recently, people would say mac's has no problems But only a few had macbook pro So the comparison is not correct, If 10 out of 100 will have a mac its obviously the quantity of bugs will not be the same Moreover that macs only come with high specification not like pc's that have a wide range of specifications that Not always good for a DJ.
In conclusion buy a laptop with an appropriate specs for audio work Because apart from the waste of money to buy a mac, VDJ is better with a pc.

What a ridiculous statement! So you think people spend money on a Mac just for the Apple Logo? Ha ha ha, think I will cover mine with gaffer tape and pretend to be using a PC, just to be a rebel. ;-)
I've used PCs for 30 years, I used to teach computer programming in a government organisation. I currently have seven computers. An Atari STE (still working), three PC towers P60, P256 & P950 all dead, a Tiny computers Windows 98 laptop dead, a Dell Inspiron 6000 XP (8 years old and still used weekly for my accounts and DJ backup) and my MacBook Pro i7 bootcamped with Windows 7. I'm obviously NOT a Mac fanboy whatever one of those is.
BTW I've yet to see a PC bootcamped with OSX :-)
A Mac Bootcamped with Windows means you actually have TWO computers for the price of ONE. There is some software ONLY available on PC and some software ONLY available on Mac. VDJ happens to be a little better on PC mainly because of the third party transitions available (most are written by users who have PCs). Although, this situation is changing with more and more plugins available for the Mac.
I tend to use the Mac side for 90% of my work at home, but, I use the PC side for DJing. Best of both worlds. :-)

I use my Macbook Pro the same way.
Many are quick to point out how they believe MACs are overpriced but rarely can deny the build and performance they provide. They look at numbers and ignore everything else.
MACs are not for everyone. Neither are PCs. Just look at the big picture but mostly your needs.

I have nothing to contribute between mac vs pc, never used a mac to be honest. However, I would recommend never to buy a refurbished computer, especially for professional needs.

I still live by my motto... Dell=Hell. To the users that successfully use a Dell, great but for me no way!!

I have had my Dell Latitude D630 for Djing about 6 years now and have never had a big problem with it (only audio).
Updated it with an SSD for a couple years ago and its been very stable.
But now its time to retire it and I bought my self a little bit bigger laptop that will last for a long time (I hope)
Does anybody have experience of using a ASUS G55VW in a Dj setup ?
I had to buy it with Windows 8 :-(
