Well the Numark Mixtrack is a MIDI device which stands for musical instrument digital interface. No MIDI device "makes" music. You can easily Google "MIDI" and get everything you need to know. The Mixtrack technically just makes it easier to perform live performances. It hooks up to your laptop with a USB cable and lets you control VDJ with a piece of hardware (Numark Mixtrack). So if you're looking to produce music with a piece of hardware, I wouldn't be looking for MIDI devices, I would be looking more for analog synthesizers. For any producer I recommend the Korg Monotron. It's a cheap, amazing device. Good luck!
