The best way to compare is to listen to both, side by side, switched from one to the other and back again, while listening to a track you know well.

The DB technologies is a better brand but, the subwoofer looks kind of small on picture. I like that its compact like a QSC Kw181 sub. It also weighs 74 pounds compared to 187 lbs on the American audio. I heard the HP 118s rated at 700 watts and they sounded really good. This new model is 1000 watts plus, it has a BBE sound maximize. you cant go wrong for 699.
