Strange! Here is an example. HP Pavilion G6 - Windows 8.1, no problem found, registry clean, VDJ launched, 2 songs played in the same deck than stop. I do launch Winamp => playing a track (with Winamp).... Have a look:

Are you running the sonique plugin? Controller? Is that a single core processor?

No plugin used - dual-core.

vdj is a far more complicated program than winamp, all winamp does is play the track at the same speed and pitch, vdj on the other hand has to use physics to change the speed of the track and if you use master tempo also the pitch, then filters of the frequencys that means many more calculations in comparison.
If you add the skinning engine that puts the drawing of the skin and all the calculations to animate it on the cpu you start to uncover the reason for higher usage. As has been teased the skin which I would think is the most intensive process will be relegated to only the video card which is designed for the calculations involved in the physics to produce the images on your screen.
It shouldn't really matter though as vdj has fail-safes to make the audio stream take precedence over all other processes when you max out your cpu. your skin will freeze though. but I used to sit on about 65% with a similar spec computer and never really had and problems unless I used a really cpu hungry vst and had other programs open in the background.

Have you resized the skin? If so, then depending on your graphic card's capabilities, this is a common cause of high CPU utilisation due to the skin having to be rescaled on the fly. Using a skin that's the correct resolution is strongly recommended. Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Performance%20Issues.html
It could also be a driver problem in Windows 8.1, which is a very new OS.
High CPU usage while loading a song is normal, especially if it has not been previously analysed by VDJ.

It was not while loading.
It seems to be a conflict between my graphic car driver and an Intel driver also installed.
The AMD was "?" and I reactivated it than desactivated Intel.
