Pioneer DDJ-SB

Pioneer DDJ-SB

Looks like Numark may have some competition when it comes to their Mixtrack Pro.

Yeah it doesn't look that bad but I do like the filter fade, maybe one of our script geniuses can figure it out. I'd love that on my Quad......

Very complete and without doubt great performance with Serato Intro .. gonna be a killer in that price range!

Why is everything coming with Serato these days?
Is VDJ LE not appealing to high end manufacturers any more?

DJUCED DJ or Serato DJ Intro these days.. why.. guess we'll never know. See that the latest Hercules instinct controllers also no longer ship with VDJ. Who knows Hercules might not have been happy announcing VDJ 8 to be shipped with the RMX2 that never happened..

Dunno .....
One of my friends demoed the DDJ-SX with Serato to me at a big club last week and I was quite surprised.
Yes, the software is basic in functionality compared to VDJ but for someone working a dance floor without the need for video, karaoke etc. it kicked ass. The seamless integration, response and superior effects really blew me away.
Not what I expected but then when you've been exclusively using one software for over 5 years you lose sight of the competition and how they have improved while the software you use stagnates.

Same experience, trailed 1.5 with my VCI-400 and within a couple of hours was fully used to the (great) mapping and fun features. Trail period over now but i'll definitely get the license.
Still VDJ has a couple of unique features that I really like and use, but now I'll have a choice depending on the needs.

Maybe this will change When VDJ8 finally gets released .... so things are looking up over the next few years.

Simply put - no.
Pioneer are leading edge manufacturers and are industry standard, and they obviously do not feel that Virtual DJ reflects their professional image.
That's probably not going to change while Virtual DJ continues to be associated with low end products like Beamz.

Maybe. But manufacturers can't be expected to wait that long. They have products to sell, and they want to ship it with software that is used by and endorsed by all the top DJ's.
Someone was asking in another thread why Virtual DJ should bother about being endorsed by big name DJ's. The product's good, so it should sell itself, right?!?
Wrong.
DJ-ing is all about self promotion and keeping up appearances.
Virtual DJ looks stagnant next to the competition these days, and lags behind on many features (yet still retains an edge on some).
Virtual DJ 8 may be a big enough step to convince manufacturers that it is better than the competition. But the competition has one big advantage over Virtual DJ 8 - their product is actually available.
:-|
If Virtual DJ wants to be associated with high end products, manufacturers and DJ's, then it needs to massively step up it's game.

I have a feeling about VDJ8. It's been a long time coming. I think VDJ has learned a lot over the years, and will finally break away from the pack as the new leader. If they have managed to clean up in the area's that Serato is better in, then VDJ will still a ton of customers very quickly.

Same here too, I got itch with an NS6 some time back and didn't like it at all, then DJ with my SX, but never even bothered to install it. Then a friend got an SX too and used DJ, which I subsequently had a play with at his house. I was actually impressed by it, the effects sound so much better, although I don't really them admittedly, except perhaps the filter, which honestly just sucks and is unusable on VDJ on mac. I've actually fully switched now, in general its great to use. Perhaps VD8 may change me back, or if they ever fix the darn iRemote app thatd do it too as that would be great with a browser.
For now though, VDJ is sitting unused, much to my own surprise.

it would be good if you made a button to have either 20kHz or 22kHz and do the same for the low end the equivalent amount, I like the bleed sometimes.
geposted Mon 11 Nov 13 @ 9:56 am
Next build will have the option to toggle between 20Hz-20KHz (default) and 4Hz-22KHz.

I'm not too keen on them either, and the UK price is just too high for what they are.
