Topic: I want to upgrade!

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I've had my RMX for awhile but I am really missing scratching/cutting with old school. I haven't been able to do this since going digital back almost ten years ago.

I almost got the 4-Set when rumors of a RMX2 was dropping and now its been out for about a year. I haven't had a chance to check it out because the majority of the time when music shops have DJ setup they use high end controllers and Serato.

Anyway, I know Pioneer is about to drop its new mid-priced controller which list for $249 and that's less than I bought the RMX for! Also the RMX2 has dropped in price to $238 on Amazon.

However I don't know what to do with my RMX, it will likely collect dust but maybe I could trade it in for store credit and get some power studio monitors or something.

I don't know, suggestions are welcome. GO!

Good upgrade and will prevent your rmx from collecting dust!

I think you misunderstood. I want to upgrade the controller not the software.

Lol. I understood you. Was just pointing out that maybe its time to upgrade the software instead of controller. Don't mind me..

if you want to scratch for a reasonably cheap price you can't go past the reloop TM-2/4. They're both natively mapped to VDJ but you will need to upgrade your LE version to be able to use them. That goes for most controllers as all the good ones come with Serato now.

Why would upgrading the software help when scratching when the problem is lack of pressure sensitive jog wheels?

I know the with the full software you can increase the sensitivity of the jog wheels, but if that was ideal why would companies start putting pressure sensitive jog wheels in controllers?

I've asked Dennis of South Rakkas and pointed me to his video explaining how to do it.

He said he wasn't ideal and I agree, he stops the song to scratch because when you try to do it normally the track will not restart instantly like a turntable and that's what I am looking for, not software manuipulation.

AND and don't have the budget to do both!

I've been using the LE version of the software because its fine for me. We I finally order some DJ drops then MAYBE I will upgrade the software.

I also like the new trigger button layout on the RMX2.

Guitar Center will give me $60 for my RMX (likely turn around and sell it for $100). I may see if I can sell it privately for $100 or a bit more on CL/Ebay/Amazon.

They will also price match Amazon on the RMX2.

If you want to keep your rmx look for a pair of these and you can scratch a bit better...

How would I use that? On top of that I need the controller to be somewhat small, I don't have a proper table or anything. I just sit on my bed with my laptop.

I'm going to guess I need to upgrade to the Pro version of the software to enable that?

I may get a one of the flight cases with the laptop shelf for the RMX/RMX2 a little later but I have much bigger plans.

You sure? Its say the Terminator 2 or 4 comes with Intro....

The Beatmix comes with VDJ

I think my local GC has Terminator 2 for $199 Clearance price.

I am really trying to keep this around $300 out the door because as said I have much bigger plans, multiple interest and that's my budget.

The Pioneer WeGo is too cheap/cheesy. It doesn't even have volume control for headphones on the unit. In fact the newest Numarks lack that too.

Seems its the RMX2 or wait for the Pioneer (Jan '14).

Like I said I can get GC to price match making the RMX2 $238.99, then $60 credit for my original RMX = $178 ($199 Cali Sales Tax)

If you want to get a new controller w/o upgrading to pro, then I say go for the RMX2, your le that came with the RMX will not work without the RMX. My understanding is that the Pioneer comes with Serato so you would need Pro inorder to use it with VDJ.

when they where first released the TM4 came with VDJ LE in the box, not sure about the TM2. but you can probably contact reloop and get a serial if you buy the controller, numark used to do that it you got a mixtrack with serato but wanted to use VDJ. but if you want to scratch you need Pro so you can change the default scratch latency otherwise the scratch response isn't great.

This is what I was thinking, I know it won't work (5.6 vs 7.x) with the current controller.

The Pioneer DDJ-SB does come with Intro, the upgrade is DJ.

I will upgrade to Pro eventually. I just didn't when I realised the limitations of the original RMX. For my podcast I will need to upgrade anyway.

True, I am aware of the latency limitations in the LE version. I am not a hardcore scratcher, as I said I just want to be able to cut it up a bit during my mixes, not playing some breakbeat and scratching over it, which is pretty much has been the trend since the early 2000's for competitions.

I am at my core a Hip-Hop DJ....
