Here is an idea,
How about a new feature called REMIX. O.K. so maybe it's not a good name but call it what you want..
Here goes:
Using the multiple cue points, arrange them by number, of course, in any order you choose and as many times (as the software will allow)
so you can make a permanent (or selectable) remix of any song you choose. When played back it will seamlessly play the cue points the way you ordered them.
You want a 64 beat intro for "Another one bite the dust" (for example) No problem. Every time you load the track, it will play that way!
I propose that that you could "SAVE" or "RENAME" the track as another so you can have your cake and eat it too. Keeping the original separate if you want. Or just a button to turn it on or off. I'm easy. To set it up just right click on the song, click arrange cue points and there it is.
Even if it's just an extended break or intro, I could see the usefulness of this for many applications.
Now I know you guys are a tough crowd, so here is MY thinking: You might say "just remix it on the fly" Or something else along the "SYNC" button issue arguments.
BUT
I could just remix the song and record it then save it as another track too, right? But then you would have generation loss.
Every time you re-save or edit an MP3 it looses more data. (not applicable to copy)
By using cue points to remix you are using the original data file. Just rearranged a little...or a lot...

Firstly, suggestions for new features should be posted in the wishes and new features area.
Secondly, VDJ 8 will have a feature called timeline which has been mentioned in the VDJ 8 demos.

Thirdly, I put it here to get more lip service.
Fourthly, It would be nice if we could actually SEE the demo. (marked as private even when logged in)

Might as well spend hours on preproduction and then load up media player no point in deejaying then........
There has to be a line I think and yes even the time line feature is pushing it in my book, this is strickly my thoughts . I'm a deejay not a producer. I remix on the fly, that's the fun part!!
But yes your are entitled to share your thoughts and ideas here, maybe this will gain some steam and become a reality.

the VDJ8 teasers showed that you could do it either with the timeline or with cues with events attached to them.

See, I knew it would be a tough crowd!
It is a TOOL!
Say you need to have a song play extra long with a extended break while you are making announcements or something that your attention is needed away from remixing. Every job is NOT a hotmix party! Walk AND chew gum. That's the idea!
I've been mixing/remixing for almost 40 years. (cross fader, what's that?) Sometimes you need automation.

Well in that case I'd throw on the instrumental and and blend into the vocal, then make my announcement without the crowd ever knowing what was going on. Then blend into my next selection, lol!!
Yeah I know Joey, Im sure Ill find a use for it, lmao!!

I'm looking forward to the timeline - seeing what it does and trying it out.
At the moment if I want a re-edit of something I'll make it myself, either in Adobe Audition if it's something simple, or in Ableton Live.
When it's done I'll save the result as a new file. That way I've always got it.
It'll play on anything, without relying on special markers/cue points etc. I'm not forced to rely on using the only s/w that understands the format.
Now we'll probably find that VDJ can save the timeline edit as a new file, but that's my POV. I prefer to have a standard file at the end.

I can't say I've ever had a eureka moment in the middle of a gig, needing to edit a song there and then.
As for using Live at a gig......that's what it was made for - the reason it's called Live.

I think Groovin is right though, it won't save as an actual mp3 or wav so it's only good for VDJ. I wouldn't really like that as VDJ isn't the only program I use. But I can't be for sure about this until it's released.

Yup I knew what you were saying but like I said VDJ isn't the only program I use so if I'm gonna remix a track I might as well just keep doing it how I do now.
You understand now, lol!

If ya really want to do live remixing, why not just practice doing live remixes like this guy: http://youtu.be/7OJ-IG6BQBI
Much more enjoyable and entertaining to watch a DJ actually working it. Shows a heck of a lot more skill and creativity than a DJ that's just good at programming a software.

.....except he's not really remixing it live. He's using his Maschine to trigger samples/cues that he's previously arranged and set out.
The same thing could be done in Ableton Live by assigning clips to pads on a Launchpad for example.

I leave that to the professionals. :D Don't have time to practice all that fancy stuff. I just like practicing the basics.

I know I was playing, lol!
But honestly I'd say that video was more along the lines of "tone play" and "cue point juggling ". By no means am saying it as bad........

You wouldn't wanna see a video of me anyways, I have a face for radio anyways...hahahahah
As a side note: I did see Enferno live here in Dallas. He does do cue point juggling, however, he does incorporate that keyboard of his and plays it live. He uses his keyboard a fair amount for his transitions. Come to find out he studied piano all through his young life. Being is DMC finalist also gives him something a little more for his shows, his scratching and cutting ability along with his button mashing. :D
