Yep, bought some webspace as Christmas pressie to myself. Spent some time since Christmas building a completely new website.
Go have a look around, feel free to comment, as long as it's not rude, ha ha ha.

Les, I had a thread running sometime back about setting up a web site...
http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/141734/General_Discussion/How_To_Build_A_DJ_Web_Site____Lets_Begin_.html?page=1
To be honest and I don't want to deflate you on yours, but you want to forget a lot of what you have done all those years back reword it a little and concentrate on what you can give your potential clients now. You need to brighten up your site and less of the "glazing" of background images.
Sorry mate, but I hope the other thread can give you some ideas, one or two good contributions on it as well.

Yeah, I didn't like the glazing either. That was the first thing that hit me - "why does it look faded?".
Les, what's your goal with this website? Are you looking to attract customers to book you? If so, you could do a lot to improve SEO.

Les,
Create yourself a Wikipedia page for the historical stuff and link to all the people, DJs, islands and venues you have worked at on there. Then just have a link to Wikipedia from your web site ;-)
Cheers,
Roy

Thanks for that link Tayla, spent all morning reading through every detail. Much food for thought, after this post I will head on over there to continue. Very interesting thread and deserves being resurrected again for people who have not seen it.
Just to answer some of the posts here;
OK the fading/glazing was a continuation of the GoDaddy template theme that I used. I have took the faded background pics off for now, but, after reading Tayla's other thread I may scrap it and start again with perhaps another theme.
@groovindj What's my goal with this website?
Now thats a problem atm. I've been a club DJ for 37 years but am now suffering from the "kid with a laptop, pirate software & tunes" syndrom. I'm still resident DJ on Friday nights at a nightclub, but, these kids have took Saturday nights. It's their hobby, but, it's my living. So, I am now intending to start doing mobiles this year, current restriction is I don't have suitable transport and don't have any lights yet. I have a pair of Mackies & stands, but, I’m not ready yet.
My old site is basically ‘This is me, this is who I am, this is what I have done’ , I always thought of it as an online CV (Curriculum Vitae). Whereas, with the new site the emphasis is shifting to more like ‘I’m now looking for work, hire me’.
@Roy The Wikipedia idea is new to me, sounds interesting, I’ll have to look into that.
Cheers for the feedback guys, just what this forum is for.

you can change the opacity of your photo's by adding a rule to your page.
place the above code in your page after the existing style node.
<style>
.wsb-image-inner{
opacity: 1;
}
</style>

Don't need to, its built into the website builder software. Already removed from all pics on the site.
