Topic: Library Advice Needed

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Hi Guys

I'm just about to move/ copy my entire collection onto a new system for gigging am I right in thinking that all I have to do is copy the VDJ database file over as well to save me having to scan all the files again

To be honest if it was just scanning for BPM's again I don't mind cos I can just set it going and leave it for a few days but I'm concerned that I would lose cue points that I've set on a lot of the tracks

anyone have any suggestions on the best way forward on this please.

also whilst on the Library subject what exactly does the check clean and fix buttons do in the config/settings/browser tab - I've clicked them a few time but don't really see any change in the library or have I misunderstood their function.

Many thanks for any advice offered !

Copying the data base will work as long as you keep the same directory path for the music.
An example, the path on my gig laptop is
D:\Music\Artist\Album\track

The backup drive is
H:\Music\Artist\Album\track

VDJ will get the drive letter, but the rest of the path needs to be the same.

I would also recommend copying, not moving.

Robocopy is a great command to use in windows, rsync on a Mac. With these commands you can keep you backup current without copying the whole thing. It will scan and make additions or subtractions only to what has changed. You don't have to copy the whole library each time.

Perfect many thanks for the reply and advice!

anyone know anything about the check clean & fix buttons out of interest?

Please read page 13 of the manual. Alternatively, read the info which pops up when your mouse pointer is held over each of the buttons.

Thanks Groovin - I didn't know I had a manual but will search out one now

My bad on the question I should of said a more detailed explanation of what the buttons do but I'm assuming this will be in the manual ?

Thanks for the tip

found it and all understood now - thanks again
