YouTube videos are usually not of the best quality and djs who use YouTube rips really give the rest of the video DJ community a bad name.
 
You can simply 'rip' your original CDG+G discs again to standard MP3+G format, which is used by most computer karaoke software.
 
Yes... I've noticed that most everyone now supports MP3+G and ZIP... I have been using a program that only rips BIN for years but like I said, it was older and their new version rips MP3+3 and ZIP... I'll get that... getting back to my question about having a dedicated video card.... one of the best karaoke software companies (MTU.com) sells pre-loaded laptops and 3 of their 4 laptops have an integrated video card.... that is why I am wondering why some people here say it is necessary... it would save me about $300 if I didn't need to get a dedicated video card with the laptop.... you can see MTU's computers at mtu.com or at this link (http://www.mtu.com/basics/karaoke-ultrabooks.htm)... I'm not going to get one of those but if theirs do not have a dedicated video card... I'm wondering how important it really is if you're running karaoke....
 
Dedicated video memory is more important for mixing music videos. Karaoke MP3+G is far less demanding because it's only simple graphics, but some shared video cards do have driver issues that can cause users a lot of headaches.

Intel HD 4000 is notoriously problematic, but there is a tool that helps fix this in many instances: http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/15870/Fix_Intel_HD_graphics.html

Ideally you should go to a store where you can try out laptops before purchasing to ensure that they are suitable or where they offer you a refund or swap with another model if it proves unsuitable. You can install Home FREE on a store laptop to test.

NOTE: VirtualDJ differs from simple video playback software in that it's designed to be low latency DJ software that allows scratching and instant jumping (Hot cues, etc.) within the video file.
 
 
Well I'm going nuts over here with karaoke and unzipping sound choice files!!!! Vista, just right click on the song, open in windows, extract, then drag to the deck I want.... and Ta-Da it works. Same goes for windows 7. Now this windows 8.1 is like a first date....... I get nothing!!!! Other karaoke brands are fine. sunfly and the likes. The frustration level is high here. it just doesn't make sense. Same hard drive, same karaoke track both zipped and unzipped, will play in 7 and not 8.1
 
I haven't started yet but this doesn't sound good.... keep us posted please!
