Topic: Syncing iTunes Playlists across 2 computers

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Trying to sync my smart iTunes playlists across 2 computers.

Someone told me to use iTunes Match but for some reason i'm not seeing my playlists sync.

Anyone know of a way to get this to work.

Right now I have all my music files synced across dropbox and they are bot the the directory c:\dropbox\masterfolder

I then have my iTunes library pointing to that same location and in VDJ I updated the registry to point to that folder but now I'm not seeing an iTunes folder list in VDJ even though I have it checked to display in the settings.

I guess my main goal is to work on my desktop during the week and make playlists and then before the weekend sync those playlists to my laptop.

Anyone have a similar set up?...how did you get it to work

I copy my itunes XML file from my home PC to my music library and point VDJ to that directory for itunes. I only use itunes on the home PC, not on the gig laptop. I'm not sure if you were also trying to use itunes on both or just get the playlists on VDJ.

Thanks I'm gonna try that.

On my home PC I moved my iTunes folder to look at my dropbox drive instead of the default....so would my Itunes Xml be located in that folder?

and then on your laptop what folder do you copy this xml to?......did you just make a new folder and edit your VirtualDJ Registry to point to this new folder?

I have my music located in a different drive, D: in this case, but it would work the same as if it was just a different folder. In itunes you are just telling it where the media is kept. It still keeps the library information in document/music/itunes folder. I can get the specific path when I get back to a PC.

I take that library file and copy it to my D: drive. I then tell VDJ to look there via the registry editor.

Thanks that worked.....I didn't even realize I didn't need to have iTunes on my laptop.

Here is how I am getting it to auto sync

I created a folder in my dropbox called ITUNES DATABASE

On my desktop I am syncing my iTunes Database folder using the program Belvedere - http://lifehacker.com/341950/belvedere-automates-your-self-cleaning-pc to this ITUNES DATABASE folder. That way anytime I make changes it makes a copy to this folder.

Then Dropbox syncs that file to my Laptop automatically

and then I made a registry edit for VirtualDJ to look to this ITUNES DATABASE folder.

This way I can do all my updates on my desktop and automatically sync them to my Laptop.

Thanks for all your help Blckjck!!!!

No problem, I'm glad it worked out.
