I'm currently using Virtual DJ and a Denon DN-MC6000 with my DJ setup. I'm looking to start using my Technics 1200's and Serato scratch vinyl with virtual DJ as a secondary system to my current one. My question is, what is a low cost controller that I can purchase that will work with the timecode vinyl and virtual DJ? I don't want to use Serato DJ, only Virtual DJ at this time. I want to jack the turntables into the controller, and the controller into my laptop and everything work with virtual dj. What are the lowest cost controller options? Thanks for any help!

Stanton DJC4 or maybe a Numark N4. I had the Stanton unit for awhile and it was a solid controller. Plenty of buttons and knobs and yup worked great with timecodes.
You could also look into the Hercules line of controllers, I believe most of them work with timecodes as well.
Hope that helps and good luck, be sure to let us know what you went with.

If you've got a controller/mixer already (MC6000) and you've got turntables and VDJ, you don't need another controller.
What you need is an audio interface to send the timecode signal from the decks into VDJ then back out again to the mixer. Something with two stereo ins (left and right deck) and two stereo outs.

Look up dj controllers with built in soundcard. I've used a VMS4.1 with 2 vinyls before. You can get one for around 200, which isnt made out of plastic and offers 4 channels

Just find a USED 4in/4out soundcard and use your MC6000 as the mixer... the cheapest way.
Or get a mixer with DVS support like Denon DNX1600 (has midi functions too), then just add your MC6000.
Ha ha ha! This is what I did about 3 to 4 years ago when I still have my Xponent and HDXs.
I was so eager to get the timecode experience by that time. I am getting older in this business I guess.

Heres a thread I started on the same topic a while back, lots of options and I wouldn't use that American Audio controller. Had one of the newer version and timecodes never did work right with it but here's the link,

I actually got timecode working with the MC6000 as the only interface. There was another thread here http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/179140/General_Discussion/Problem_with_Denon_MC6000__Timecode_Vinyl_and_Dicer_.html?page=1, but it went dead. I figured no one cared so I never bothered with it again.
I remeber that I had to use channels 1 and 4 to send the tone (faders all the way up), and I had to turn the faders in the software all the way down, so you lose 2 decks. Atleast I did the way I had it working. Not sure of all of the settings, but it did work. If this thread doesn't go dead, and someone wants me to try to do it again, I'll be glad to do so.

Not really looking to use vinyl with my 6000, even though I already have the hardware and soundcard to make it work. I'm looking at this to have a 2nd controller for a backup of I have to send off my 6000 for repair, or if my DJ business books 2 gigs on the same night. That way I'd have a 2nd controller for my partner, and he'd have to option to add turntables if need be right out of the box, without the need to purchase additional hardware.

I was actually looking at the American Audio DV2 Mixer. So you had a bad experience with it?

I think Hercules Deejay Trim 4&6 is a recommended / solid soundcard for timecodes with virtual dj. Then you can use serato control vinyl 2nd generation timecodes (recommended) or the new ones serato 2.5 timecodes.
You will find some good info here in this thread :
http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/146709/General_Discussion/Perfect_Timecodes__.html?page=1
As others said above i think any or most (asio) cheap midi controllers like examples the hercules will be stable with the latency
