Yeah shifting from 128 to 70, transition track.

Well the variable beat grid in the video won't really help (another Atomix time sink)

What you want to do is Add action POI into the transition track that sets a new down beat and Changes the written bpm when things become constant
I only figured it out the other day, but it works sweet with 'Rob Duggan Clubbed to death' 102.02 drops to 90 back up to 102.02 down to 90 and end
When the slow bit kicks in the written bpm changes (pitch stays the same) and the grid lines up like magic, There's a few things I'd change about the bpm editor, and provisos for multi bpm would be the first bit. Then section scanning.
It's explained here for a lad with a track (90 up to 128)

That's all good for tracks that switch instantly from one BPM to another, but what about ones that gradually speed up or slow down? :-)

e.g. Come On Eileen, French Kiss

I love that little louie track
Gradual increasing tracks you're snookered (Well you could do the maths with several POI but life is too short for that kind of pain) Normally tempo levels out at some point. but for practicalities sake it has to be done by ear.

And I see that the on screen bpm still doesn't reflect the change like some other software.......

For French kiss I set grid markers at the beginning and end of the track. It works fine.

That's fine if you're playing the whole thing, but doesn't cover the variable section.

For example, someone may wish to transition into a slower track during that section. How do they tell what the BPM is, whilst it's changing?

A live readout is what we need.

I seem to remember there was a 'live' bpm counter in the old automix program years ago although I could be talking rubbish !! I might still have it somewhere may just have a look if I can find it.

Maybe a good idea for a plugin?

No, no, no, no! This should be standard anymore not made into a plugin.

Don't get me wrong, I'd use such a plugin I just don't agree this should be one.

No it should not be a standard, how standard are transitional tracks? To counter your desire for it to be standard, I play breakcore & speedcore and bpm detection is oft wrong (not 50 or 200% wrong, just wrong) You must play breakbeat or D&B how often does V8 get the beatgrid 100% right?

Baby steps, a plugin doesn't need to rewrite base code, nor need the fanfare of a build release, and if the plugin is good it could adjust the recorded bpm/down beats, and eventually add the action poi that I mention earlier. So you have a transitional track, run it with the plugin once and then every thing is sorted forever, instead of something that could FSU (in a bad way) when you scratch with a track.

Haha, ok you got me.

I'm gonna try your way sometime this week, seems like a lot of work (I'm lazy) but if it'll work I'm down........

Ok so now we can see the BPM change after we've made adjustments to a track, awesome and I'm glad we have that feature now.

But here's my problem, when regridding a "transition" track (goes from say 128 to 90 in a few a bars) I drop the first anchor and just type in the BPM. Everything is on point until I hit the transition.

I open up the BPM editor and then click the "variable" button. Next I set an anchor but it's not placing the down beat in the right spot!!

Can someone please make a video using a "TRANSITION" track adjusting the BPM please??

With Serato I just set an anchor where I want it then count and everything is done quickly, with VDJ it seems to take forever to get it right.

Can a teamer make a video please and yes I've seen Adams video and it's not the same as a transition track..........

maybe this is a no brainer but you do realize you can put your mouse over the red downbeat line and when it turns to two horizontal arrows move the marker where you want it.

Example please cause my lines don't turn into 2.

Huey, I'll take a look at your track and make a video if required.

Drop me a PM

EDIT - I think Adam showed & explained everything quite well in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcHxlHHL0y4

You can see the mouse pointer change to the arrow/line/arrow as he's adjusting things.

That's the video I'm talking about and you can clearly see at 4:06 when he adds an anchor the downbeat is not in the right spot!! Watch it again and remember the colors and what they mean.

I have to go to my day job so I can't upload a track. I'd just like to see a video made using a transition track, any transition track will do........

OK I've just had a go at adding anchors to French Kiss, which slows down and speeds up again dramatically....

I understand what you mean now. Although adding the anchors and adjusting the grid after each anchor makes the BPM change (so the metronome stays in time), the actual beat count (1,2,3,4) doesn't stay in sync - so you end up with the metronome bleeping all over the place. Even double bleeps sometimes!
