Topic: Vdj 8 & ddj sx questions

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I was trying vdj 8 yesterday with my ddj sx and since i have been using vdj 7.4.1 with it for a long time , i have a few questions on how to set up vdj 8 correctly and have the functions that i need & use.

so here are my questions :

1) in vdj 7.4.1 i could press the TAP button on the ddj sx while the track was playing and it would set the downbeat ( first beat).
it doesnt seem to work on vdj 8 unless i stop the track -place it on the spot and press tap.
is this the normal function ? or is there a way around to have it working like in 7.4.1 ( while playing the track) ?

2) in vdj 7.4.1 i assigned two effects ( vinylbrake & flanged loopout) on the fx1 & fx2 buttons that are over each channel ( over the gain buttons) is this possible in 8.0 ?
if i dont ( or can not) do this , can the fx1 & fx2 buttons be used to choose which fx bank ( in multi fx) -side 1 or side 2- will be used on a specific deck ?
could i use all 6 fx ( banks 1 + 2 with different fx on all 6 slots ) by selecting the 1 & 2 buttons ( like in se*****o)-sorry for the bad mouth....

example : playing on deck 2 and choosing a fx from fx 1 bank on deck 1 ( by selecting the 1 button over the channel of the playing deck)
will that work ?
i tried it with not so much luck..

3) the vinylbrake fx is not working as it should in 8.0 .
is it not compatible anymore ?

in 7.4.1 i could start it ( with lets say brake time 6 seconds) and if i would stop it before it stopped the deck ,it would resume the play of the track normally , in 8.0 if you stop it before it ends instead of normal play it does a brake start ( from slow to fast like on a turntable) and yes the start time setting does not affect it.
is there a solution ? the other brake fx available -brakesat stop - isnt perfect either.

the same with the flanged loop out fx ,in 7.4.1 i could start it ( with lets say 1 beat and 12 echoes) and if i would stop it before it stopped the deck ,it would resume play of the track normally , in 8.0 it works but if you stop it before it ends , it like jumps and skips the track while it starts.
i know that there is a loop out fx that works great , but it doesnt have the allign to cbg setting , so you have to start it on the correct beat .

4) how do i get my history & playlists on to 8.0 from 7.4.1 ? where do i copy them ( actually ..do i have to copy them ??) ?

5) i noticed that sometimes the sampler sounds do not beatmatch the song playing ( and yes the beat markers are correct on the track)
mostly when i was playing on deck 2 and was using lets say the KICK HARD sample ( which is .....located on the other side of the deck-on deck 1 ....)
that is a little weird & out of logic for me
can that be changed ? , so i have the same samples on each deck or at least on the same side of the deck ?

these issues are not hardware related ( before somebody asks...) but here are my specs
intel i3
6 gb ram
2 gb dedicated graphics memory
1 tb internal drive
external drive for songs with power supply
laptop is optimized for vdj

i have been using my setup with vdj 7.4.1 for a long time ( over 200 gigs ) with out any problem , with the ddj sx skin and the native ddj sx mapper ( tweaked a little bit to suit my needs) and i am very satisfied.

what i need is to have the same functions ( or at least as close as i can) on vdj 8 with my ddj sx ( same buttons -same functions)
we are creatures of habbit after all !!!!

p.s. did the hotque issues ( not beeing in place and having to be adjusted manually ) get solved ? i have put a lot of work in my tracks with hot cues ( intros & outros & brakes) to have to do it all again ...

besides these little issues , i worked with the latest version of 8 ( 1960.812) and i have to say that i am impressed with the sound ( and not only !)
if i could iron out these little things i would consider switching from 7.4.1 in the future !

thank you for your answers in advance

1) That's now the behaviour in version 8. You tap 4 or more times and it will adjust while playing. Or you could remap the tap button to something like this: stop & beat_tap & play. I'm not sure about the script. Locodog suggested something like that. Maybe he could corret me if I'm wrong.

2) and 3) Most effects written for v7 are not compatible with version 8. But some are re-written and could be found in the download section. Of course, you can still map everything to your needs. But maybe open up another thread just for your mapping issues. For the brake start, there is a new Setting in the Options called RampStartTime and RampStopTime. However, it will only work with the "play" button of the SX.

4) Copy your m3u files from v7 folder Tracklistings into the new v8 folder History. Playlists should be fine.
