Topic: MIDI signal during break?

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Hi there :)

I´m currently using VDJ in combination with DMXControl to sync an automated light show to the speed of the music.
I do this by sending MIDI notes on the beat tap from VDJ to DMXC, in which I mapped these notes to the speed sync function so the BPM in DMXC is always in sync to the BPM calculated by VDJ.
This on its own is a fantastic approach and works unbelievably good and stable, I'm actually blown away by how well it performs!

However I currently have no way to determine wether the tune is currently on a beat (intro, buildup) or in a break in DMXC.
This would be interesting though, because I could start different "parts" of the light show according to this.
I would like to play rather dynamic effects (blink on beat) during build up but more calm effects (slow fades) during break.

While this would be no problem DMXC wise, I need a MIDI note for this to work with in the first place.

My question is: does anyone here have an idea if there is any way to trick VDJ into sending a MIDI note when a break starts / ends?
Per definition I'd expect this to happen just when the beat stops / starts / quits the usual pattern.

I fiddled around with "get beat_intensity" in my MIDI mapper, but this seems to return the intensity from one beat hit to another (Kick: 100%, 0%, Kick 100%, ...) and not the overall intensity (100% kick, kick, ..., 0% break, ..., 100% kick, kick, kick) which I would need to get this done.

Maybe there is any other way to send MIDI notes based on the current "energy" in the track or something.

So please, if anyone has an idea on this issue: let me know what you think! :)

Kind regards,
Marco

I guess I'm kinda looking for a similar answer. I hear VDJ can use a cue point as a trigger. Trying to figure out if that's true and if so, how.

For DMX-Controll I hear not from a VDJ Plugin for VDJ 7 or VDJ 8 ,
in early VDJ 6 Version have hear from osc to midi

Which version of VDJ do you use ?

Here gives for the DMX-Lighting Software Freestyler some VDJ Plugins, one is named with :
SBDJ FreeStyler Cue v1.0 and SBDJ FreeStyler S2L v1.3,but this Plugins are the Old Version,
think you must use this so:

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
For VDJ 7 use the Freestyler 2.0 Plugin

See this thread for more information:

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

For VDJ 8 Pro Infinity use the Freestyler 8 / 3.1 plugin:

Information is available here:

greatings,Dirk

Iself have not work or test all this Plugins,
will be later test it when i have a DMX Interface

I waiste that gives since VDJ 8 Buildt 2059 a Midiclock output, but what all goes with this i have no idea.

Another one is the venguemagic vdj plugin:

I use the sound input in Freestyler DMX to do this. It has DB thresholds that change when the volume gets low, as during a break..
I believe SBDJ's freestyler plugin can pass instructions also. So maybe POI editing or something would work.
I have the same kind of ideas that I want to implement. A better DMX show is next on the list when my "studio" is together.
