I am SO VERY FRUSTRATED... I bought the pro program on Friday and I have been trying and trying to get my traktor kontrol S4 mk1 to connect... I have downloaded 3 different versions of the mapping and nothing... I have been able to get it to where the sound will come through the traktor but, I have never been able to get the controls on the board to work anything with VDJ... I have been researching and researching and have not been able to find ANYTHING on this... I have emailed support several times... and I keep getting the EXACT same email... and I have tried everything that the emails say and still nothing... I have tried it on 2 different computers and the traktor s4 as well as the traktor s2... I have exhausted all my efforts... what is there left to do?

Using the s4 mk1 currently, it will only work in midi mode, (shift+mag-glass on hw boot) (it uses a non standard HID)

In MIDI mode did the LED matrix read ON?
Did you try the maps 1 by 1, download -install - trial - download -install etc.

yes, and yes... wasn't sure if it's because of windows 10, virtual dj, traktor not communicating correctly...

First of all, S4 MK1 (first generation) is never going to be supported officially, and that's have been stated several times. Also the unit does not appear on officially supported hardware as well.
Second:
You can use the unit in MIDI mode with VirtualDj, but you will either have to use "Simple MIDI wrapper" (and therefore teach VirtualDj what each button should do by yourself - NO LEDS) or use one of the available user mappers.
The available user mappers have some instructions you need to follow. Most likely there's a "Controller Editor Template" file you need to download and instal on your system by using NI's Controller Editor Software, since with Controller Editor users can change the MIDI notes & CC's associated with controls.
Finally, Controller Editor from NI MUST be installed on your system in order to able to establish proper MIDI communication with the software (It acts like an interpreter that translates NI proprietary format to MIDI and back on)
If you still have issues, please let me know which mapper you're trying to use so that I can take a look and further assist you!

I have tried every map for the s4 that is on the download page... but, I have to google it in order to find it... and then I have downloaded the dj tech tools map... and found a couple others that I found on google... and all I was able to get... was that the sound would come through the s4 but, nothing more than that... and because I have had so many issues with this... and I have even tried going BACK to version 7... I have tried it on 2 different computers and 2 different controllers... and still nothing... I don't want to have to go out and buy a new controller just to run this program... I would hope that I could at least just get a refund...

First of all unless you use two different profiles, your current profile does not show any license. This means that VirtualDj will stop working with ANY controller after 10 minutes.
Second, even if you use a different profile which is licensed, you should check first the supported hardware section to see if the controller you're interested for is supported or not. At least you should try VirtualDj 8 without a license or ask on these forums before getting a license to see if the unit is supported or not. I'm just telling these because the situation you're now in is not Atomix's fault.
The reason S4 (MK1) will never be supported natively has been stated many times: It uses a proprietary communication protocol. Mapping via MIDI is possible, but the Jogs performance is poor and that's because of the S4 MK1 firmware. We don't provide native support for units that can't work 100% properly with our software exactly in order to avoid user's annoyance.
Third: By downloading mappers and templates from here and there most likely you made things worst instead of better.
You should try this mapper: http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/14443/Traktor_Kontrol_S4.html and you should follow the instructions on the download page.
This means that you HAVE to load the default Template from Controller Editor, and afterwards use the Controller Editor to change all buttons to "Gate" mode, while you need to edit all encoders to "relative" mode.
Failing to do so, the mapper simply WON'T work!
If you did all of the above and you still have issues, please let us know.
