No real limit, if you had millions of entries then database.xml would be a very large file and could take a while to load but there's no hard limit.

Almost 91,000 tracks in my database (between audio and video) and it's fine. I know 2 people who have a little more than double the amount I have and are using VDJ also with zero issues.
