Topic: VDJ 8 Shutting Down - Page: 1

Dieser Teil des Themas ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten

After a while of running VDJ 8, I get a message saying that it can't decompress a mp3 file because it doesn't have enough space. What does this mean?

Then VDJ shuts down.

What is causing this problem? How can I solve it? Why is it decompressing the song when it's already an mp3?

Sounds like you are running out of memory. This could be because of your system specifications or it could also be cause by a memory leak.

MP3 is a compressed format, vdj is using the wav format internally. So the MP3 has to be decompressed first.

Are you saying it would be better to use WAV's to lessen the load?

You should not need to.
What are the specs of the PC's you're using?

I have 6G of ram.

Are you using video ? Also, how big (in time) are the track(s) you try to load when you get this error ?

Using mp3's. Average files. It shut down yesterday after 4 1/2 hours and 2 1/2 today. I have 4 decks open using automix. I wonder if it only works (without shutting down) using 2 decks? Anyone using automix, are you using 2 or 4 decks?

Automix only uses one deck to play out though. I am sure there are plenty of people out there using automix on a 4 deck skin.

is it a dedicated PC for DJ work, or has it got other stuff on it, if so virus scan it, and malware check it. Could be a bad mp3 file?

Please give the full specs of your machine. When you say shut down, what does that mean, exactly? Can you test this at home, while connected to the internet? Is it possible that you have a bad RAM module? Until you get this straightened out, do not attempt to do a gig, where you are being paid. You know you have a problem, and it will not just go away until you fix it. Which build is this, and when did the problem start?

Questions:

Is the video output active at all during this?
Do you have any plugins active during this time (including visualisations)?
What video card do you have, and what driver version?
Can you replicate this whilst connected to the internet and logged into the software (no crash report in your account).

Sorry to jump in on this, but I'm having the same issue. Started two weeks ago. Thursday - crash. Friday -crash. Saturday - reinstalled VDJ8 and all good. The next Thursday and Friday - All good. This past Saturday - got the decompress message (tried to get a pic of the screen, but disappeared too quickly) then crash. Crowd not happy & I was embarrassed as heck.

My System:
Windows 7
Dell Alienware 17
i7-4700MQ @ 2.4 gh
16 Gig RAM
Graphics 1: Intel HD 4600
Graphics 2: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M

Plugins:
Tellyvisuals
Tellymedia (Installed two weeks ago, but didn't use this past weekend)
Freestyler - Sending messages to another computer for timing. (Have used for months without issue)

Controller:
Pioneer DDJ-SX2 (bought a few weeks before crash) I updated the firmware after the first round of crashes.

I'm really at a loss in trying to figure this out. I have an update to the NVIDIA card that I'm installing today to see if that clears it up. The program just shuts down without any freezing screens or warning that it is going to happen. The only clue to expect problems is that decompressing message shortly before it happens. Never a problem with VDJ before a few weeks ago and love it, but need to find out what is going on before the next gig on Thursday.

Could you check in the windows event log, to see if there are some interesting stuff stamped at the time of the crashes ?

Not a computer guru, but savvy enough to get in trouble. LOL
Here's what I found, but not sure if it helps.
The only log error issue that I found was at the same time as the crash was from Bonjour with ID Error # 100.
Looked it up and it's related to iTunes. I don't use iTunes, so don't know if that would be an issue.

Just had another interesting shut down. This time on another system.

Specs:
Windows 10 Home
Dell Inspiron 15 R Special Edition
Intel Core i5-3230M @ 2.60GHz
6 GB Ram
Plug-ins
Tellyvisuals

Was checking out CU Karaoke selection and tried to load a song without downloading it to cache. Wasn't loading so I right-clicked to unload the file. When I tried to reload the song, it said "error" in the deck song window and shut down.

I do remember now that at least 3 of the 4 shut downs (not sure about the 2nd crash) were when using Content Unlimited files. Both CU Karaoke and CU Music Videos.

I'm getting a little nervous about this issue. Thursday night is Karaoke night. :/

Once again, the only error i found was with Bonjour, error code 100.

Are you connected to the net when these issue happen?

geposted Wed 11 Nov 15 @ 7:05 pm
Yes.
Thinking maybe I should try my older laptop. It's a HP Pavilion G6, so it wouldn't really surprise me if it crashed. LOL

So guys, have you received any crash reports from this gentleman?

Is it possible Bonjour / Bonjour Print Services is causing this issue? I installed it to use the VDJ Remote, but don't use the remote anymore. I am, however, getting this Bonjour error msg in my event log at the same time of the shut downs... 548: ERROR: read_msg errno 10054 (An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)
