Hello,
I'd like to know if this idea is possible before I will buy VDJ.
I've got the possibility to use the Pioneer DJM 900 mixer for one event for free. So it would not be worth to buy a controller for this event.
I would like to use the DJM 900 as a Controller. It's not for professional use, I only need to control the crossfader and the line fader in VDJ with the DJM 900. Furthermore, I'd like to preview one channel on the headphones.
It would be cool if Channel 1 in VDJ is Channel 1 on the DJM 900 and the same for the 2nd channel. So I can use the crossfader for changing songs.
Deck 1 in VDJ = Channel 1 DJM 900
Deck 2 in VDJ = Channel 2 DJM 900
>DJM 900 Input from USB
I know that I can map buttons via MIDI, but how do I set the Output settings in Virtual DJ 8?
Of course, the DJM 900 is not done for that, but it would be awesome if you could help me!
How is this possible? Thanks a lot!

You seem a little confused. There's no need to use the mixer "as a controller".
As you've said yourself, you can configure VDJ to external mixer mode and route each deck to its own channel on the DJM.......and then use the DJM to mix.
There's no need to control the software mixer in VDJ. It's not needed when you have a real external hardware mixer!
Of course it would be useful to also connect something with a few buttons on, so you have hardware control of play/pause etc.

Thank's a lot!!!
I didn't know that it is possible to set VDJ to external mixer mode, I only know this function from Trak*or.
To see the crossfader from the DJM 900 moving in VDJ, I read somewhere that it's possible to set it to "fake crossfader". Is this right and also possible in VDJ 8?
Thank you very much!

Yeah, but you don't need to see the "pretend" crossfader moving on the screen!
You've got a real crossfader to use. Just forget that VDJ has a mixer on screen.
You can use a skin that doesn't have a mixer, then maybe it'll be out of sight out of mind. :-)

Yes, you're right.
Thanks a lot. I'll purchase the subscription license and I'll see.
You really helped me, thx for that!

I generally have the skin set to view the scratch wave forms and not the mixer sections.

I'll see if I need it or not.
I've read that that the way you set the fake functions changed in VDJ8. Is that right? How does ONINIT work and is this part of the fake functions?
Thanks a lot!

just have a look at the mapping of a digital/ analog unit like the VMS 4 for example.
each specific action has no fake commands anymore.
this info is now part of the oninit

Hi,
I tried it.
ONINIT fake_mixer on & fake_master on & fake_eq on & fake_filter on & fake_hp on & fake_gain on
Q (Keyboard) crossfader +10%
When I adjust the master volume knob, nothing happens, very good! But when I press Q to simulate the DJM 900 mixer crossfader, the crossfader moves, but it's not acting like a fake crossfader!
It seems like there is no fake crossfader available, because the other fake functions like fake gain, fake master, fake filter are working. Hm.
Thanks a lot!

/Edit:
Okay, there is no fake function for the crossfader, you have to disable the crossfader. "ONINIT crossfader_disable on" works perfectly! You see the crossfader moving, but the crossfader function is disabled. Nice!

Hi!
I've got one more question.
When in plug in the djm 900, the driver software opens. What do I have to set there? There are the options Mixer Output and Mixer Input and I can choose between:
Timecode Phono
-Timecode CD/Line
-Timecode Digital
-Post Fader
-Cross Fader A
-Cross Fader B
-Mic
-Rec Out
Thanks a lot!

so is there a guide on how or possible setups for DJM 900 /nxs with vdj8
Thanks
Thanks

Hm... it is not in the List of supported controllers.
While the NXS2 is.
You can still try it if VDJ recognizes the controller.
The setup should be similar to this:

my product key on the bottom of my controler has been cleaned and faded away ...is there any other place i can find it ? i lost my disk and been using serato...but i would love to have the orignal Virtual DJ LE that came with the controller

You can contact the maker of the controller, and they may send you a replacement code. If you registered your controller with Virtual DJ, then contact support. If you did not register, I'm afraid you may be out of luck. Either way, you will not be able to resolve this on the forum, so contact support here.
