Hi folks im sorry that im NOOB at this Mac ive been converted from Windows to Mac im trying to sort out music ... I have transfered music from Windows to Mac on External hard drive and put it in Music folder where Itunes folder is located (hope thats right) now im sorting out my music list from 70s throu to present day ... im making virtual folders (Red) and naming them so on and so on ... but when come to a music file not very often thou I get a red X on it to say I cant play ! I go to my music folder and type in the name and have it there , is there something I need to do to get that song to play on VDJ8.1 ? Heres a photo of a sample ! thank you inadvance

The red X means, that the track is in the database, but can not be found at the path stored in the database.
Most likely you moved it to another folder or deleted it or something like that.
Just clean your database and all the missing files will be removed and not listed again.

Hi thanks for reply yes ive check the songs an its in my database after spending few headache hrs 4 infact trying to work it out .. I open Itunes then got to folder were the file is then i moved it to itunes then it plays on vdj ! Does that mean ive to send all my files in the music folder to ITunes to they convert them to play ?

No, your music can be located any ware , VDJ just needs to scan the file location , if you move a file then the VDJ database wont find the file path and it will be marked in red
I just copy all my tracks to a music directory on my root drive , I leave all my tracks in their original folders within the music folder.
I then manage my playlists and use virtual folders to manage my playlists
You can clean up your database within VDJ, and it will remove these bad links

Thats what I hope Ive done right in music folders by making virtual folders and putting most request songs in them ...im spending bit of time to get this right before going out to gig at mo im using windows pc until I get everything right on the MacBook .. how do I clean up my database on the Mac within VDJ to remove the bad links ..Thanks
