Hi,
On my external drive, I keep getting and message saying the database is corrupt every time I open VDJ (Ver 8). I don't get the message when the external drive is not connected to the PC.
I have tried selecting fix the database but it does not appear to do anything as each time I open VDJ the same corrupt database message comes back.
I have 1000's of tracks on this drive most containing lots of POI's which I really don't want to lose so could anyone advise on a way to fix this issue please.

First thing I would do is copy the drive to another drive as back up. It's a good idea to have a backup of all of your media, this drive needs to be copied now. It could however be a bad usb cable, usb port, or something else. Have you tried another drive, on the same port, or a different cable?

Thanks for the reply - I back up the drive a lot so ultimately won't lose anything but was hoping I could repair this one without the need to re-do it so to speak.
Saying that I will back it up onto another drive although it will be an overnight job as there is over 2TB of stuff on it !
I have tried the drive in another machine with the same corruption message on the drive, so am confident its not the port although not tried changing the cable which I will try in a moment.
Interestingly if I select not to fix the database everything works perfectly but its the fact the message keeps coming up that concern's me.

Ok, so it's not the port, 1 down and a few options to go. Have you tried another drive on both machines? If iot's not the drive, it may be something on the drive, that's causing this.

So I've just tried
1. My main backup drive in all of the ports - no problems
2. My Main backup drive with the 'faulty' drives cable - no problems
3. The 'Faulty' drive with the cable from my main backup drive - problem returns
I agree it has to be something on the drive in this case, I have scanned and removed missing files from DB but to no positive effect.
If there is anything else I could try I'm happy to give it a go but failing that I plan to just copy the drive contents over to another drive, wipe it, test it and if all ok copy them back.

That sounds good. However, if it's info on the drive causing it, you will just be transferring the problem. Is there a chance that you put something on there recently, that could be the cause? When did this issue start? Also, there may be another solution that I don't know about. You may get a better idea from someone smarter than I am.

Great minds think alike as it did cross my mind about when the problem started - with that in mind I plan to move stuff of the drive in bits and test it as I go along, fingers crossed I find the problem early on if this is the case !

Just to update .. ended up having to move everything of the drive and after running some diagnostics on it and re-formatting it everything is working fine now.
