Topic: Requests?

I need somewhere to write my requests and birthday shout outs. I'm using VDJ8, is there something equivalent (or better) to notepad that was in VDJ7?

Pen and paper?

Bet you're a bundle of laughs...

I agree, if I am taking requests, I keep a pen and tablet available, and let the requesting person write the song title down, (it's easy this way when the music is loud).

There was no Notepad thing "IN" V7. Might have been a plug-in, made by someone else. Maybe find it, and send a message to the person who made the original

Place a trashcan in front of the dj booth and write a note on it - requests.

We have song request slips out, along with our karaoke requests slips.

works ok for us.

or sometimes I have notepad open in the background lol

Looks like a pen and paper is pretty common around here...... I'm kinda laughing now.

Show some maturity guys and I am sure someone is not laughing.

I am laughing though.....

Honestly, if someone ask me for a request I usually know if I have it in my library or not.

If they try to ask in the middle of a mix, ill tell them to hold up a minute. Finish my mix then ask, next ill type it in and then just move it to the sidelist.

Every club is different but for me, if I'm getting that many requests in a night in clearly doing something wrong. A few request is cool but all night I've disconnected from my crowd and need to pass the torch.

I would recommend trying one of the following request services. Most of them require a smart phone, but allows you to get all the requests from various guests easily. Seeing that we are moving into a greater technology heavy age I these various processes are the future.

Also, I would recommend you check out getting a content unlimited subscription from VDJ...

My wages do stretch to a pen and paper which I do use. I'm just sick of every bugger running off with me pen!
I thought it would have be simple enough to put something like a notepad where the sidelist or automix windows are in VDJ8. That way it keeps it neat and tidy ...and I get to keep me pens!

There was a plugin in 7, don't remember what it was but used it for a few things, mostly for notes to my self. I did use notepad for awhile. I treat request differently, depending on the gig. For sweet 16s, I have a lot of post it pads and pens. It's basically there to make them think I care what they want to hear. However I do get a lot of ideas from them, as I don't play a lot of slower stuff. In the club my answer is "I'll see what I can do" which basically means no. However, I have a lot of regulars that know that I'm a slut, and do a lot of things for large sums of money. That just means you get your song next, because you cannot let one person control the mode of the party, no matter how much money. That's why they got rid of juke boxes.

Putting songs in a sidelist works for me on several levels. If I think of something and want to play it later, as well as request. I'm not a big request taker, as I look at these people as being selfish. If you are a request taker, pen and paper works just as good as the newer technologies. I have plugins that would allow you to text me, or send to my computer, but I would never use that, because that is just asking for trouble.

I use a clipboard with a couple of pens attached to it so no one can run off with the pens. I place a few sheets of paper on the clipboard with the word REQUESTS in big bold lettering at the top, and then leave it to the side of me. People come up, write in what they want, and when I have a free moment, I look at what they put down.

Would be nice to have an extra tab in the sidelist area that would allow free type to put names for requests in.

Just now I just tab back and forth between VDJ and Notepad.
