Topic: Black video screen with webcam

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Trying to use a Logitech c920 webcam with VDJ v8.2 b3392 and I'm getting a black screen whenever I turn it on.

I've got the camera selected, and tried opacity from 0-100 and still black.

What should I look at?

Win 7
ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics, up to date

I have the same Camera.

Make sure you install the Driver that came with it or if any update from Logitech (don't remember, I think there was). The version I have for Win 7 is Logitech C920 HD (lws251 v2.51.828.0)

For Win8-10 Logitech C920 HD (lws280 v2.80.853.0a)

I gonna check now too if there are any updates on the driver.

Thank you for the reply. The camera didn't come with any software. I tried it first by letting Windows try installing it, which it did, but didn't work. Then I went to the web site and downloaded from their site, which I did, and it still doesn't work.

Just check and it is the same version I have.

during installation, did the camera work ?

Did it detect the Camera when it ask to to Plug it in ?

If I remember the installation process correctly, it said don't plug (meaning unlpug it from the USB) the camera in yet during the install until it ask you to plug it in.

I first plugged it in and windows saw it. Not sure if it was plugged in when I tried the downloaded driver. VDJ sees it, it's just not putting out anything but a black screen.

My guess is it's a driver issue too. I'll keep playing. Maybe someone else will chime in with a suggestion. Thank you again.

Like i said, unplug the camera, install the driver.......then when it ask you to plug it in, that's when you plug it in.

Now, uninstall the driver and start from the beginning.

OK got it to work. I have no idea where I got the driver from, but it wasn't Logitech. Much different install process.

Now...the video is there, but it only takes up about 90% of the screen when size is 100%. Is there a way to get it to be full screen?

Easiest thing to do is cross-check it with another program. You can do that with TellyMedia or VLC or something else. Sometimes I don't even install the driver for a camera and just plug it in and it works. Do the cross check first and then you know something if it works elsewhere. I will sometimes get a black screen with my Logitech c210 in VDJ but not too often. Make sure camera is not running anywhere else. In VDJ when you are testing, If you start the native camera effect on deck 1, it will not work on master or deck 2 even if you deactivate it on deck 1 and you will see black. If you are running the native camera effect as a visualization, then that could effect your testing as well. Just all depends.

If you try some other program, be sure you are not turning on the native camera effect in VDJ at same time.

yes go to the cam in ether the deck or the master (which ever) you are using. Click on the gear and turn the dial that represents occupancy.

Change the resolution of your camera

Had the same camera (Logitech c-920) issue with the latest update (3409). Tried to change the resolution and the software crashed. The driver is up to date. I was able to use it without any issues in the prior updates.

How did you get it to work? I have the same issue but the camera works with the telly plugin.
