There are a few fundamentals that go into being a great DJ.

1. Being able to beat match without trainwrecking mixes & transitions (bonus points if you can do it by ear without sync or staring at the computer)
2. Mixing in key
3. Reading your crowd and either taking them on a musical journey or keeping them on the dance floor the whole night and engaged into what you're playing
4. Having a well rounded library of music with different genres (and properly knowing what those genres are exactly)
5. Knowing all of your music inside and out so you know exactly where the breakdowns, hooks, and all of the mix in/mix out cues are
6. Taking risks once in a while and playing or doing something that is outside of your comfort zone but is new and will give your audience the wow factor (another words, don't ALWAYS play it safe with the same songs, transitions or style)

Record your mixes, listen to them over and over, ask for honest feedback from friends or colleagues and practice practice practice!

awesome thank you
