When I load a song the EQ level shows 2 levels one is bright and the other is lighter faded within the same circle, however with a slight nudge of the corresponding buttons the gain jumps to chosen preset level. Now the correct and only level is displayed after the nudge.
My settings: "auto + remember" I love this because it saves me time because the gain is already adjusted the first time I listen to the song. ]

For the EQ, you can change the setting resetEQonLoad to No
For the GAIN, well you first need to understand what those 2 different faders show, in order to choose if you want the Gain to follow the value the software chooses when a track is loaded or the one that your controller has at that moment.
The bright one indicates the software value (e.g. if its on 12 o clock with zerobB 0 its 0db Gain)
The faded one indicates the position of the hardware knob.
If e.g. you had set the Gain of the previous track to e.g. -3db and then load a new track, would you want the next track to be loaded to -3db ? Since you have auto+remember, it will change the db value when the same track will be loaded again.
Anyways, you can change the setting controllertakeovermode to instant or gradual but this will also affect other knobs like EQ, Volume etc

1) I tried that, however better on resetEQonLoad to Yes for me.
2) That is why my gain is checked as auto+remember to remember my previous gain settings and to remember it when the same track is loaded again. However this is not happening maybe a bug?
3)controllertakeovermode to instant that's my setting.

With Auto+Remember, i load a track , adjust Gain e.g. to -3db, load a different track , then back to the first one. It loads at -3db here.
But since you have controllertakeovermode to Instant, a slight movement of the Gain knob on your controller will bring the Gain of the track to the value that the hardware knob indicates, so bye bye "Remember"
So imo this setting should be left to Pickup or if you want the hardware to take-over at least to Gradual to avoid instant sound changes.

My question would, why are you having to mess with your gain so much??
I to use a 4000 every now and again and I don't seem to have this problem.
Mines set to auto-remember.

Will try "pickup" when I get home and see what happens. With "instant" noticed that without controller connected all gains seems to work fine with using the mouse . But I will let you know.

@djdad
Without the MC4000 connected to laptop the VDJ on v3409 Gain and EQ performed without any issue with mouse as expected.
However when connected to controller this happens:

Image1 song loaded and gain and EQ are deliberately set on song #1 and then played.
image 2 shows after new song is loaded. It also shows in a lighter shade where the previous EQ and Gain settings were.
I do not want to see previous gain nor EQ setting as a shadow..
No luck on the "pickup" mode.

You cant get rid of the "shadow". The ghost faders are there to indicate the different values between software and hardware. Its up to you if you want the software value or the hardware values to take over.

"Its up to you if you want the software value or the hardware values to take over"
How do I choose? Where is the option for software or hardware values?
Only having this problem lately.
