Everytime I run the optimizer it only gives me error messages and does not optimize a thing??? Any help with this would be appreciated.

operating system is windows.
The reason I run the optimizer is becuase the processes running while I run VDJ always is on the high side & when I load tracks it peaks out the cpu usage

It's normal for VDJ to consume lots of CPU resources during loading a track.
What CPU to do have?
A multicore CPU will handle this better.

There is a useful setting in the options to reduce the load rate..the setting being called idle.
With older laptops turning off windows updates can help a lot.
If cpu usage is very high then you might get audio/visual problems.
