Topic: About XDJ.RX2, VDJscript And Custom Coloured Waveforms...

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Hi guys, first of all I would like to say that VirtualDJ 2018 works great with Pioneer XDJ-RX2!

I must say that VirtualDJ's developers did an awesome job on supporting this unit.

I've been able to customize and map the console by using VDJscript, the only thing I don't like are the colours of the waveforms shown on the display of the XDJ-RX2.

I really prefer monochrome style (blue / red) waveforms (which are the standard waveforms used by VirtualDJ's GUI), but it keeps showing neutral style on the display of the unit... is there any way to change/customize this behaviour?

Let me know please thanks!

I think they're hardcoded so no, and why are you emphasizing words where no emphasis is needed?

LOL I knew someone would say it... but as I always answer to this question: the really good question is why not using the bold feature if the forum provides that?!

Anyways ignore it, that's just my own style of writing posts! ;P

About coloured waveforms it shouldn't be that difficult add a feature like that (if not already present) it's just about rendering the waveform with a different color I mean... ;)

Is there any of the staff that could give me more technical explainations/advices to achieve this?

And if that is hardcoded so it's not possible to achieve something like that at the moment... is this a feature you are going to add in the future?

I think it would be a really cool feature to have anyway...

Not at the moment and not likely ever. When I say hardcoded I mean it is a limit of the hardware. Something Atomix can do nothing about

Ok so it's due to an hardware limit...

I've seen that the waveforms of rekordbox software have a different color than VirtualDJ ones (they are blue) so I was hoping this was something that could be changed in some way...

Ah right I was looking at the rx1, it could be possible for the rx2 but then it might not.

Not sure if could be possible to set a custom color like one waveform blue and the other one red to mimic the graphic style of VirtualDJ (that would be great but I don't know if there is some sort of hardware limit in this case) but setting a custom colour for both waveforms should be possible with XDJ-RX2...

Why don't you ask Pioneer?

Why should I ask to Pioneer if we are talking about customizing them in VirtualDJ?

The developers of VirtualDJ already changed the style with their own neutral style (if you look in the options you can see what I mean).

I was hoping there was some sort of VDJscript feature to do that...

Because Pioneer manufacture the RX2, so they know what it's capable of.

As I told you just before: VirtualDJ shows a different waveform color in is own style on the display of the XDJ-RX2 console so the developers of VirtualDJ already did the thing!

Now, I'm asking if they are going to provide or if already present a feature for customizing the color of the waveforms shown on the display of the device.

Will ever answer a developer of VirtualDJ on this forum or is just for VirtualDJ users?

Just to know, otherwise I'm wasting my time asking a technical question/improvement like this here, with all due respect... :)

Cheers!

You seem to have already decided that it's possible - so why are you even asking?

It is possible infact as I already told you (and this is the third time) if the software would give us the ability to do it...

I am asking how to do it and if the software provides that feature.

Do you own an XDJ-RX2 at least?

Well if you care to look at the mapping for the RX2 display, you will see some good candidates for experimentation...

To backup what locodog already told you, if the RX2 display (when used with VDJ) is the same as it looks with Rekordbox DJ or in standalone mode then the display GUI is coming from the firmware in the RX2, and will not be adjustable.

With the premise that I am talking about the XDJ-RX2 and not the XDJ-RX..

I'm going to show you some pics so the thing is more clear...

The colors are indeed sent by virtualdj, but they are fixed at the moment.
It could be made to follow the coloredWaveform preference in a future update.

This is the result I get on the display when I use rekordbox software:

So as you can see it's absolutely possible with Pioneer XDJ-RX2!

The question is how can I change the color style used for displaying the waveform?

I think it's just a sort of pre-rendered waveform (rendered through shaders) and then passed to the device...

So VirtualDJ could just provide a feature to customize the color in some way... ;)

Cool, thank you for the answer Adion that would be great! :)
