Okay I played around with the code a little bit . And managed to get it working using this allows code. adjust the size of the toolbar which scales everything in those areas . <fonttoolbar size="2"/>

You can't do them transparent I'm afraid.
Personally I use transparent browser(s) on my skins a lot. But the sidebar, top bar and a few other elements cannot be set to transparent.
The item you'd want to change is
<toolbars background="#282828" text="#e6e6e6" iconbackground="#282828" border="#505050"/> (place it as a child on your sideview element)
As you can understand by yourself, background="#282828" is the color of the toolbars
But it doesn't accept "transparent"
