I didn't have a laptop so I couldn't use virtual dj, I just got one and I'm excited to learn but I don't know where to start...im like a kid learning to read for the first time. Any tips/skills will help

You could make a good start but just playing about to see what things do and then once you have the idea go on and look at tutorials located here:
