Hi,
I just deleted my prepared Automix list by accidentally double-clicking another playlist in the search browser!
Question: how can I prevent this? This is very very dangerous during live performance, that an accident double click can ruin all your prepared automix playlist!
Thanks

I'm pretty sure that double clicking a playlist prompts you about adding all of its songs to the automix list before actually adding them, so you had to click yes to allow your automix list to be modified.

I can reproduce it without a popup! It simply hard replaces the Automix playlist! Could you please try and give feedback if it's not the same on your side (means the problem might be caused by any settings)?

I typed the answer after I tried it personally on my machine (I started adding stuff to the automix list pinned in the sideview then double-clicking a non empty playlist while the automix list was still visible in the sideview) - I was prompted without anything being changed. Is there a video showing the issue or steps you can list to reproduce it? What is the version of VirtualDJ you are using?

I'm on the latest version: v2023 b7831
I tried recording the problem: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gwsVC40Tbo_2zBEHIziYfhISRyPGBY0_/view?usp=sharing
You can see: my automix playlist contains 3 tracks. Then I doubleclick a playlist on the left, thereafter without a promt the automix playlist is completely replaced!

What does that mean? Does it mean I can change it, or I changed it? Or is it a default setting that cannot be changed? (then I'd open a feature request)

He means in plain English that the double click is the default setting for loading a new playlist and can't be changed.
Also be more careful so you don't double click when you don't mean to.

Actually I was being literal, there's a playlist called default. It holds the autosave of the automix list, it autosaves when; a track is added/removed, also when the list is reordered, also when vdj closes.
If you're clumsy this is how you go back.
I don't really use automix and I found it in a under a minute...

Honestly I don't see the behaviour that he sees..I get prompted for if I would want the contents if yhe playlist to be added.
@OP do you see this behaviour with settings restored to default (backup the current settings.xml and let VirtualDJ regenerate it)?

You will get the warning if there are unsaved changes.
If there are no unsaved changes, you won't get the warning, but you can just double-click the playlist named "default" to go back to the original

Oh, that's good to know being able to restore using the "default" playlist.
Nontheless, maybe it would be a good feature being able to deactivate the "playlist load on doubleclick" feature? I mean, how often would you want that?

It's standard to load tracks to a deck by double clicking, so the same rule applies.

Well but happens way more often (at least in case when not using a controller) than completely overriding the automix playlist!

I understand now, he saved the automix list as a playlist, then continued to play it or browse otherwise (after that point it doesn't prompt). My normal use case is to populate and use the automix list without saving, so it prompts me before modification.
However, when I save the list as a playlist, it comes up as a playlist in the browser playlist section, which I can double click to restore (already played items are indicated too). If I add a song to a list then it becomes a new unsaved list that gets a prompt again.
Questions to OP: is there a reason that you are double clicking lists so often to cause this? Do you have some kind of single click as double click option enabled at the OS level?
Given you are just playing a specific unmodified list, have you just tried double clicking the list you were playing again to restore it (as everyone has said)?

Yes, as follows: my tracks are organized in mutiple different playlists (mostly by genre like 90s, rock, house, primetime etc). Even many playlists are nested in folders, so opening/closing folders and lists is everyday life.
And it happens one or the other day either two single clicks that are ment on different lists accidentnially target the same list, which then counts as a double click.
Or that I forget that folders in VDJ open with a single click (because OS folders open with a double click). And once the pointer is not exactly on focus of a folder, but a real playlist - bäm automix is replaced instantly.
But true that restoring the former playlist works when going to the "default" playlist, and load it.
Anyways, I'd more love to deactivate the doubleclick-playlist feature entirely, as I hardly ever have the need to load a playlist this way. A right click > load in automix (which also exists) would be way sufficient and less dangerous.
This could be implemented similar to the automix-track doubleclick feature, which already exists as property and causes a popup when configured with
automixDoubleClick=promt.
Why not introducing the same for a new
playlistDoubleClick=promtsetting?

This is probably the crux of the problem - I still have bit of difficulty understanding, because I've never once did this for the entire time I've used the software. Given I've decided on a list to select - one click to open the folder(s) that contains it (the + sign and click behavior implies a tree-style 1 click, select/open - Rekordbox and Serato behave like this as well, although I'm on MacOS and I've never tried changing OS double click settings to see how they respond, and another to select the list itself). If I happened to select the wrong list, I was never fast enough to trigger a double click condition. You can also increase the display size of folders and text in the browser to help too.
However, as it turns out, the option you want to set to get the behaviour I see is savePlaylist = no (described in the playlists section of the user manual):
Automix is never automatically saved (and you get a prompt on double click of some other playlist), you have to physically save it to a list (when it's saved and ita contents are identical to the automix list, the list is replaced.

I see, that might work, but it does not help be that activating a feature that I want, deactivates another feature that I need (recover automix playlist between sessions). So I guess I have to live with it. Again, at least the playlist recovering with the "default" playlist is a good workaround for such cases.
