Topic: VirtualDJ with macOS 15 Sequoia?
Apple's newest OS update, Sequoia just came out a few days ago, and they have a few features I want to try out
Does anyone know if? virtual DJ is supported on Mac Sequoia?

I haven't seen anything from Atomix, that I could find.

I tried searching these forms and, Google already and couldn't find it mentioned and I haven't seen anybody mentioned it.

If it's not officially supported, has anybody ran it successfully?

No issues found so far.
If you are using a controller, of course best to check with the manufacturer if it is compatible though.

I updated my mac to Sequoia hoping there wouldn't be any issues and can't log in anymore to my account. I get get stuck when trying to enter and eventually get the "Cannot connect to servers" error. I have checked the hosts and my internet connection but everything seems to be in order.

I would recommend not updating if you use an account for all the virtual dj features

Firstly, I'm an early adopter of new software, I have always used the Early Access versions of updates with zero issues (I know, not recommended for gigging). I am semi-retired and currently have no gigs lined up. So, I decided to upgrade my M1 MacBook Pro to Apple's new Sequoia OS. I have my previous MBP backup laptop if needed. I spent a week trying to upgrade, I tried every 'fix' on the internet with no luck, the (Failed to Personalise the software) error. Finally I took it the Apple Store to get installed, last year I had the same problem with Sonoma which they took half an hour to install. Sequoia took 2 hours to install. On returning home trying to restore from my Time Machine with the Migrant Assistant didn't work. So, I have spent all weekend rebuilding my system back to where it was, still some work to do.

I could not install VirtualDJ which was throwing up a message to contact the software provider. I have a months worth of previous working VDJ versions and I had to transfer one of them into the Applications folder, and it has updated to the latest EA. When trying to run it I am getting a stems engine error. Previously for the last 2 years this laptop has been brilliant with Stems. Has Apple broken something? I have restored VirtualDJ to 'as it was' except the Stems error. I tried reinstalling from the VirtualDJ website and get the Stems engine error and refuses to install. I'm currently running VDJ with the Stems disabled.

Has anyone a clue for a fix? 🤷‍♂️

Stems will only work on a fresh install. Apples migration tools are broken.

Yeh, I've seen the problems with the Migration Assistant in the forums Keith. Currently I can't download and install from the VDJ website, so its a bit of 'catch 22'. I have a working version that I updated this morning to b8331. It's only the Stems that seem to be broken. I've disabled Stems in the Options for now.

As a MacOS user that may be considering a machine upgrade in the near future, should this issue + existing workaround + any updates be on a Tech Support Forum page featured at the top (or at least a rehighlight of any existing page that has the info)?

I have à Macbook Air M3 with sequoia 15.1. It worked fine with the last version of vdj but tonight vdj is opening and immédiatly it s closed... 😢😢😢😢

Have these mac issues been fixed yet?

i've held off both updating to sequoia and vdj 2025 in case.

This issue is to do with their migration tool. If you are upgrading to Sequoia and VDJ 2025 on your current machine then there are no problems for you.

Doubling down on @kradcliffe's comment - I have seen no issues with using VirtualDJ with a DJM-S11, Phase or a DDJ-1000, just make sure your controller is ready for that update (drivers, etc). If you are buying a new MacBook, set it up as fresh (no migration).

I still haven't fixed my M1 yet. Had gigs getting in the way plus I don't normally use stems anyway and have them switched off. I did an 8 hour gig on NYE where the M1 performed flawlessly and another gig NYD, so not a major issue for me. I have a 70th b/d in a couple of weeks, so I may have a go at fixing it.

I still have my 2018 Touchbar MBP running Ventura and my Numark Mixstream Pro Go as a backups so well covered.

Can anyone confirm whether macOS Sequoia is compatible with Virtual DJ? I use a Pioneer DDJ-REV5 controller. The Pioneer site says to hold off on Sequoia until they confirm compatibility so I'm delaying anyway. However I'd like to verify that Sequoia is now compatible with Virtual DJ for the future. Thanks!

Atomix's CTO offered positive confirmation in the first reply to this thread for software compatibility , if your hardware is supported is a question for your hardware manufacturer.

Check this ya'll. Googled "Newest Version of Virtual DJ". Scrolled down until I found a result from the actual virtual dj website https://www.virtualdj.com/download/ . Downloaded the one for my Mac even though I have the newest version. It totally worked! Went through the install steps like I didn't have virtual DJ. When I clicked on Virtual DJ to open it up..it was like there was nothing wrong.

I'm sure I've tried DJDash's method in the past and it didn't work.

I've revisited this thread yesterday and again tried DJDash's method and to my surprise stems are now working! 😳 Maybe when I've updated macOS Sequoia to the latest 15.3.1 it has a fix built-in, who knows. 🤷‍♂️

If you've tried this fix before and it didn't work, maybe try again.🤔

Thanks a lot DJ VinylTouch. I just installed Sequoia on my macBook Pro & everything runs fine with the REV5. I had a few permissions issues which were easy fixes but after that all my tests passed. Thanks!

Cheers 🍺

Other hardware vendors have similar report pages/mechanisms as well with respect to platform support.
