Topic: AsktheDJ Catalog - How to Create It?
Memory is foggy since its been awhile. I forgot how I created a catalog out of one of my music folders. My catalog is currently online, but when I get requests in VDJ, it doesn't seem to find them and I have to search. Which eats up my mixing time.

I got a new laptop awhile ago. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Do I have to reupload the catalog again or is there some way to get VDJ to relocate the files? They are all the same.

1. How are people creating catalogs of specific folders?
2. Anyway to not have to reupload the same catalog and have VDJ relocate the paths?

thanks in advance

this has been improved in the next build. you can just upload a file with all the full paths, and virtualdj will show the correct file as the request.
(in build>=8476, available soon)

Thanks for the update! If anyone can still post on the old way of doing it.

I haven't updated to 2025, got too many upcoming gigs and want to test out before jumping.

Thanks

the "old way" was to upload only the artist title, and the in virtualdj when clicking on the request it would perform a search across your database for this artist title and show you all the results.

the new way with b8476, you can now choose a list in virtualdj and select export->export text->csv file->includes file paths only, and then upload this file as your catalog, users will see the artist - title in the dropdown, but the request in virtualdj will be linked to the original file ready to be dragged on deck
