What kind of drive is it and is it formatted correctly for use with MacOS?

On My other computer/Mac's it do not do this only on this new m4

I don't see anything slow about that, and you never answered the previous questions.

To add to the questions/suggestions, there are a couple things that could cause this, allowing the OS to index the drive (always turn this off) and filesystem type (ExFAT is not recommended IMO) are normally the culprits.

I use an external SSD with no issues on an M4 Pro MacBook Pro.

Do you have the OS setup to index the drive? If so turn that off.

not sure what your asking but my OS can read it with info on it

my old one WORK Ok.......................But this is not

You're not listening to what people are asking. Use Google to find out if indexing is enabled for your external drive on MacOs or not.

And for the record your old Macbook is different in every way to your new one.

We can't help if you don't respond to the questions asked.

don’t know what you’re asking I see it on my MAC tabs to look or play or eject

Read this post again then ask google to fill the bits in you don't understand. We can only help you if you help yourself.

I don't currently have anything with MacOS on it so can't give you any screenshots.

I look at some videos ONLY VDJ- is slow reading the OS read it ok out side the PM

Follow this guide to disable indexing (there is also a file you can create at the root of the drive to mark it for disabling indexing but I can't remember the name right now - a google search would set you straight on that).

The problem is not a VirtualDJ problem - it is most likely due to your OS/VirtualDJ configuration. I use VirtualDJ and Serato on two different MacBooks (M4 Pro MacBook Pro, M1 MacBook Pro) with an external drive (approx 78K songs in the collection, and at least 1000 of those are music videos) hosting my collection with no noticeable access delays issue/noticeable difference in disk access time between the two.

This thread might also be useful to you (basically disable any extra bulk analysis VirtualDJ might do on file listing/discovery/startup/etc)
