I haven't used "hotplugfornewlists" before, so all my lists are stored on their respective drives.
I'd like to use this feature now.
How can I transfer the existing lists from the different drives to my main drive without any data loss?

Fron my understanding, Hot Plug stores lists according to where the actual music is located, and those lists and their entires are combined into the total view of the database when plugged in, and removed when not.
To make a list move, you have to move all of its entries to the new drive (VirtualDJ will realize and move the list there automatically)

It seems someone just replied here, but I can't see the post!

Hi Vinyltouch, it's true that VDJ does this automatically, but how do I move the lists?

Right click the list and uncheck hot plug

So yep I inadvertently double posted the same thing - I just asked the mods to remove the second post.
Just to explain a little more from my understanding:
So for moving lists - you don't have to worry about doing that yourself. Given you enable HotPlug for a list, VirtualDJ positions lists based on the entries in them, and reads lists based on when drives are plugged in amd whether or not the list is marked as HotPluggable (those two being true = VirtualDJ adding the contents of the list to its view of the database for POIs, BPM, etc).
@Adion also answered how to switch it off (switch off the setting globally: disableHotplugForNewLists = true), and right click any new list you created while the setting was on and select "Disable Hotplug").
Just to explain a little more from my understanding:
- If the list contains local song entries and at least one of those entries is located on an external drive, VirtualDJ will create at least one copy of the list on the external drive with those entries existing om the external drive in it). This could mean there is a copy of the list on as many drives as there are entries existing on those drives that are in the list, and once those drives are connected, VirtualDJ combines all of the entries for each drive specific version of the list into one view of the list from the browser
- If there is no local entry in the list on a particular drive, then that list will not exist there.
- Streaming/Cloud based entries and entries on the OS harddrive will make a list on the OS harddrive containing those entries
- The curren open tree structure, could be saved as local lists on the OS hard drive and may or may not contain entries depending on where those song entries are
This does allow for VirtualDJ to still display that part of the browser structure on restart (for things like last visited folder), whether or nit the actual entries are contained on the OS drive.
