Topic: Virtualdj, Pioneer DDJ/ergo and Akai mpd 218
Is it possible to use an Akai mdp 218 together with a pioneer ddj/ergo? I want to make some beats with the Akai and mix it with a song via the ddj.

Thanks a lot for the information

Yes you can use two controllers together (you'll need a license) but you can't really "make beats" with VirtualDJ as it doesn't have a sequencer. You can play drum one-shots in the sampler manually or you can trigger prerecorded loops.

That's a good point. So live making beats is not possible even with a beats app. Then I have to think about another way to make it work.

What do you mean by "a beats app"? VDJ is not a beats app.

It can however host VST plugins, so you could perhaps do it that way.

Another option is to host the beat making on e.g. your phone and sync using Ableton Link.

At this moment I use MPC beats to control my Akai MPD 218. I was hoping to integrate MPC beats into virtual DJ, just like a hard drive for example

I will continue my search on YouTube tonight. Thank you for your help.

You can run it as a plugin.

Great! Next question..this is only possible with a pro license and not with my free 'test' license I think?
At this moment I'm thinking what to do, take a virtual home or pro license. So If I only can install plugin with a pro license, I will do that. Is there any manual how to install the mpc beats plugin, or when I got a pro licens I can found the plugin? I found the tape for installing plugins at my Virtualdj

Info on installing VSTs is in the manual here.

The MPC Beats VST is an old VST2 *.dll file rather than VST3 (assuming you're using Windows).

Yes, I am using Wondows.

I tried different thing but could not install the MPC beats plugin. Please help me. I copied the MPC Beats64.DLL file to the correct folder C:\Users\....\Documents\VirtualDJ\Plugins64. I want to know if its working before a buy a pro license.

Make sure you select the FULL view in the FX list.

It works, I dod nothing new, so a reboot did his work?! Next is to map the pads of the Akai to virtualdj.
